Garry Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I visited with Graham a little after he arrived at the Park and took a few snapshots. When I left at 1:30 Southern Skimmer was on the trailer in the parking lot. We got home about 4:30 and already someone has posted photos of the boat on the beach! Graham said he has never worked so hard as the last few months building this boat. I think she looks great! Here are a few shots on the trailer. There might be a lag on my system since I haven't received the pictures of the boats on the beach. To complicate things I'm going home for the weekend and won't be getting hold of Gordy's emails until Monday morning - I've set up an auto-forward to Jim so he should be able to post anything that comes to me from Gordy over the weekend. Ray, Graham said the entry angle was 11 degrees, half of the entry angle for the CS 17. He said the fine entry angle smooths out the transition hump between displacement and planing - letting the boat get on a plane much easier. He was pleased with the one test sail - she moved very easily in 5-6 knots of wind with four aboard. I would love to be in a pace boat watching Southern Skimmer during this race. It would have to be a fast pace boat! Quote

Matt's new boat is a short fat pram with a single leeboard (photos on site above. I'm not sure how his leeboard is going to work when it's to windward--there's no obvious support. Quote
