Finding a future project

Hopefully, I can get some help here. If not, it's my own d@mn fault. A few months back, there was a post about a neat boat, I believe about 23' long, but maybe longer. It's only real defining attribute was that the cabin had a partial canvas top, that when removed, allowed you to walk right thru the cabin up to the bow of the craft. The plan was a motor design, but the designer had plans to make a sailing version. With the millions of designs out there, I know this is a needle in a haystack request.

Glad the search thing worked! I had remembered the boat too, and was going to search for it. I had it in my mind as "American Skiff", so I was close.

I see he's upgraded his site to show more pictures of it. Pretty interesting design, with low fuel use with the 25 hp outboard.

I would like to build this boat as a motor-sailor, if I can get the designer to work with me on it. I talked with him today, and it might take some doing to get the sail design from him. He said he can motor around all day on 2 or 3 gallons of gas, so why put a sail on....

One cool project Brit. I was attracted to it when it was first posted. I can see this as a motor sailer with some real nice features. Should keep you busy for a while. Do you plan on converting to a sailing rig initially? I can see you and Adla going into competition to see just who has the fullest yard with boats? But there isn't one perfet boat for all occasions so we need more boats. :roll:

It will definately be a multi-year project . I am hoping to rig it with a folding tabernacle set-up similar to the Vacationer. The designer wants to use lee boards, I'm more inclined to a centerboard. But we both agree that the sail rig needs to be removable, cuz it's a cool boat to just motor around in. A high boom sprit rig, like he has pictured, would be ideal, if it could fold out of the way, instead of stepping the mast every time.
