Guest Oyster Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 from all of the beautiful sailing shots with such detailed workmanship on many of the boats, are sails that look like clothes that have been slepted in for one week. Yes wrinkled, and crumpled aluminum foil. Sail bags for small craft sails are, in my opinion, the very worse item for these type boats if this is what is happening to the sails. Its very little effect to actually fold up the sails, when finishing your trips, at least doubling them up and stowing them away, in lieu of just bagging them away. I cannot find any other reason that generates aged "aluminum foil " appearances for this for such nice boats. So how do you store and maintain your sails on the off duty time? capt jake Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 The main is lowered and flaked onto the boom, secured and a cover zipped over it. The jibs are furled, taken down, slid into a tube like cover and rolled like a cinnamon roll. All are a bit wrinkled but the wind helps out. ;) Quote
adla Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 mine are flaked and tied to the boom with their new cover over them --- i need to get a cover for the boat now..... maybe what i should do is IRON them before i go out next time...wonder if it would help to hoist them and get them wet and let them dry taught....i don't like them wrinkled either...or so white. Bob Taylor Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 I made the mistake of leaving the American flag attached to my mainsail and stowed it away in it's storage bag, apparently damp. The dye leeched out of the flag onto the sailcloth.....argh!!!! I love bleach. Quote
