The plans were offered after pressure from other builders, after he designed it for he and his wife. I have the plans and am currently waiting on a funding approval from my CFO. She stated that we have other more pressing obligations (floors, drapes....). Quote

lewisboats Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 As to the Skiff America...I've seen it up close (last summer) and I wonder at its sailing abilities. It has a flat bottom with a straight run aft (actually there is a 3/4" hook to the bottom) and is clearly a planing power hull. I think the transom would suck beaucoup water. It really runs sweet with a medium power motor (25-35 hp), transitioning from disp to semi to full planning almost imperceptibly. The three that were at the messabout were cruising the lake making a good show. I kinda raced them with my little 10 ft vee bottom skiff, and while I was white knuckling it they were cruising serenely along. They told me I was doing 22 mph by their speedos so that tells you what they can do with a 25 hp!. Steve PS: No I wasn't doing 22 with the trolling motor :roll: I had a SeaHorse 9.5 Quote
