Ok, I finally got my camera back from my son who borrowed it to use on his Honeymoon to San Diego. I was able to take a few pictures of my boat. It is still in the sail-making and rigging process and trying to get it all figured out as the plans for this boat had nothing about rigging other than sail size, halyard size and mast and sprit pole size. So a real study to figure out as I have yet to do any sailing. Soon though, Soon as I plan to take a lesson or few now that the weather here in Arizona is ideal now. I posted some pictures in my gallary and hope they uploaded ok. Here is a few.

That is one sharp looking boat. I like the bright floor against the blue hull. Stands out nicely.

From looking at your pictures it appears that your lines go through you mast :shock: :shock:

I built the mast using the Birds beak design which is using 8 pieces of Duglas Fir with a 45 deg cut on one edge of each, then glued together and then shaped. So the center is hollow but the ends are pluged with about a 6 inch solid piece. It is untested in wind yet but it is only 8ft and the mainsail is only 33ft area and a 12ft area jib will be used once it is constructed. Fun stuff.

One of the quickest ways I know of making a round or oval spar. Either straight, tapered or double tapered- really an easy job.

Better, but I'd still like to see a dead side shot so the sheer can be seen. I suspect it's gorgeous. The rest of the boat looks to be extremely nicely done. My compliments.

Barry- I'm ashamed of you!! Telling Tim there might not be much response from this board cause most are building Stevenson designs!!! Even the Weekender people can appreciate OTHER pretty boats

Tim, I'm curious what sort of rig you're going to put up with only an 8ft mast. Even with my two masts, each is is tall as the boat is long.

OH Charlie! I think you knew what I meant, not that there isn't interest in other boats; because I believe that there is a lot of interest in other designs and projects. It is just that the majority of builders that are active here are building Stevenson's designs and may not have any experience in what his boat's rigging may need. Twas only trying to help him get more input.

I think this is one fine looking craft and it has really interesting lines. I too would like to see more of this and how it works out with his questions about his particular sail plan. Absolutely love the blue interior. Looks like a nice job of building too. 8)

Heck you are a very talented person, indeed. I thought I was good, but have only been known to only open my mouth, only to change feet.

I still think Frank needs to add a sticky note at the top of the board stating that the place is about messing about in all boats. It did take me a bit of time to get rid of the myth of the site being just a weekender site. But across the web, this site is becoming known as one of the most friencly sites visited on the web. 8) And yes from what I can gather, this site is also managed by a parttime moderator-website coordinator. Thanks must be stated in open forum for the work that is done in your idle time. So guys let up on him for not working at break neck speed on his water borne projects. :wink:

Oh by the way, almost forgot the present project, nice boat!!!!

Yeah Barry- I knew that. I was just poking at ya a little. Shoulda thrown a few more at ya I guess.

I fact, I just invited some one from the CLC board over to here. He's building a John's Sharpie like ours and the CLC board is mostly a bunch of kayakers- they just don't have much interest in sail boats, so I told him there was a real crew of sailboat builders here, come on over.

I can take a hint, if someone points it out to me. and then hits me with a big stick along side the head a couple times. :shock:

Gave up on some of the other forums without even getting involved, too many less than friendly things going on and too much politics. Not that I'm particularly opinionated about anthing liberal or right wing conservative either. :roll: Just really like the people here and what goes on.

Frank has a great place here with good people participating. Have had some good ideas expressed and some truly facinating projects. I just need my daily dose of this place. Frank does an outstanding job with this little place and I think I speak for most of us when I say "Well Done Frank and Thank You!"

And buy more books from Amazon to keep this boat afloat! Same with the other sponsors. Patronize them so Frank will love us all!

Keep on hanging out here and join in on what is going on. And post more photos, All of us are a little dense when it comes to forming mental images. OK, OK, So I have that challenge too. Easy! :wink:

Here is a side-view sort of. I'll have to get a better one later after I do my week of hel... work on the paying job. Also here is my mainsail after sewing it together. It is a sprit rig with only a 6ft luff and an 8ft leech, 4ft head. Total of 33 sq ft area. I haven stiched the jib together yet but it will add only 12 more ft. Tim
