Milestone Reached! OT

I found it!! I really found it!! The floor to the shop, that is. Boy oh boy what a PITA. I know I'm a packrat, but I really have to change my ways!

We moved in over 18 months ago and I finally have the shop put away. I don't know about true functionality yet, but we will see soon.

I still have to re-side the South side next summer, but the inside is coming together.

I have plans for two small dingys and have to make a sofa table; then maybe I can start on the knives. :shock:

That is so cool! It is nice to be able to see the floor once in a while. I call it "mining for concrete" in the shop, or "mining for formica" in the office.

We moved early this month due to our old landlord selling the town house out from under us and now are renting in the country. The house has a shop out back that would have been ideal for building the dinghy! Too bad I didn't find this place last year.

The shop has a big wood burning heater and is insulated, so projects can be worked on in relative comfort. I have been tasked with fixing and refinishing furniture this winter, so there are no boat projects. :cry: The furniture and antique clocks will keep me busy, so I won't complain too much.

Have fun with the dinghies.

I feel your pain/surprise

The weather has forced me inside, which meant that the cleaning I have put off for a year had to be done before I can start assembly on the Spindrift. Darn city won't let me tarp the side yard....worried that I might lower property values or something :agrue:

That is one of the main reasons we moved. We only moved about 5 miles but are no longer in city limits and have no longer have neighbors to contend with. Our property is along side a fairly busy road, but we really don't notice that any more.

After having a shop all set up in the other place, it will take a while to work out the kinks in this new place. I could really use that addition, though the money-beneifit ratio wasn't very balanced.

Now to install that vacuum system I have been hauling around for 2 years. :shock:

Vacuum system and dust filtration is all in place, finally!.

Blower to exchange air from one space to the other.

Most of the tools finally have a home.

Doors need to be built for the carport to secure Fire Escape and stuff.

Only about two circuits to run and then I can start making sawdust, or something again. ;)

Still have to sink that blasted catch basin in the driveway. :roll: Tired of the lake out there because it's not deep enough to sail in. :) :shock:

OK, I know this topic has a poor rating but what the heck.

I got al sorts of projects done yesterday, insulated the overhead doors, ran three more circuits, overhead fan, 6 more light fixtures (almost as bright as Kuzda's now ), hung a bunch of sheet rock, completed the display case for the sailboat model, new carb on the rototiller.

Now that's what I did for fun on my birthday! Though the old guy is sore today, I'll finish up a little more sheetrock today and put a top on the workbench. Then to re-arrange to fit the new display case/model somewhere. :roll:

Hmmm, as of this post, this topic has been viewed 180 times and replied to 6 times. I think that is about average, certainly not poor. As you may know, I like this method of evaluating a topic rather than the new system Frank recently implemented.

Its the type of system that won't be valuable for a few months, and then I'll re-evaluate it. I was hoping it would help me make an index of sorts, of the best messages we have here, but so many good ones have scrolled off that it probably won't work that way anyway.

Don't get down just because 2 people rated you (What do they know anyway :wink: ). This can't be a valuable tool until a high percentage of the hits rate the thread. Personally, I don't think we will get there, as most of us visit this site for the entertainment and the good information we can get as we sift through the entertainment.

I don't know how many times my wife has wondered why I am laughing at the computer. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Heck, I have followed this thread, but found no need to rate it, since it goes without saying Capt. Jake has long been good for a laugh. I never know what to expect when he wonders into this cyberland, as we all know he will do his best as displayed in all of his prior projects. Its how he gets there thats an adventure as good as a mystery movie . :twisted:

Frank, can you currently index/sort based on "Views" and/or "Replies"? I am thinking of a 2 level sort, one sorted by Views then Replies, and another sort by Replies then Views. This might do what you want until the rating system starts flying.

Well, now that Jake has his shop cleaned up, maybe he can index the site for me!

I'm looking at a couple of options, one is to have a "shadow forum" with selected topics copied to it that would be "read only" (things like what paint to use, how to make oars, epoxy techniques, etc.) Or a section with links to those topics, which might be easier to use than the Search function. But we'll see.
