So its working? I guess the cache at work is keeping it from showing up on my monitor here, because I uploaded the files and don't see any snow.

But that's always been the story with people in California. Even if the weather ever got horrible, we wouldn't admit it!

You all drive safe in the bad weather. I'm use to this stuff, knock on my wooden head, and even I scare myself now and again.

I hadn't thought of my little joke might be someone elses problem. Glad you made it home safe, Dave. We go for long trips in bad weather for adventure. But our vehicals are built to drive in this stuff. Big engines to generate more heat. :wink: Heated seats. :shock: Auto start :roll: Heaters on the battery, transmission oil pan and block heater are all standard equipement on my Wife's Rough Terain Vehical.

Frank, when I was on Maui last month. I actually met locals that wanted to come hear to go snow machining. That old sled out back , was there dream machine.

Oh and that picture of California snow in the post above, Some times that is all you see when you drive up here. Nothing but white out, can't see beyond the windshiel wipers. By the time you get to a stop, that is if you dare stop, you realize you've been pushing some poor old lady's chevy for the last mile. :twisted:

I was once playfully busting threw snow drifts with one of my old monster trucks and I found a buried car in the road. I kind of got it unstuck for the guy at least. Knocked in clean out of the snow drift to a bare patch of road. Lucky for me the snow cushioned the blow and I didn't crunch his front end.

Hunker down, enjoy your Christmas Folks, I'll try and remember to keep the door closed.

Born and raised in Michigan, half way up on Lake Mi, then two tours at Grand Forks, ND has cured me of snow and cold Mike. You can have all of my share. Just keep the door shut. It is going down itor the 20s here the next few nights. Started out at 54 this morning and was 42 by noon after the front moved through. 30% chance of flurries tomorrow. This is Florida snow just doesn't fit the picture. I'll keep the riff raff, you keep the -40!

It was only -20 when I got off work this morning. Yep, looks like you folks took my weather. But that's okay, you can keep it.

I remember when I was a kid it snowed over a foot in Texas and that was on the coast. I thought that white stuff was so great, I ran away to Alaska. I've been stuck/frozen here ever since. :roll:

I even know how to build an igaloo.

I can't wait till I grow up to be a Snow Bird ( that's when a person retires and goes south for the winter every year). :wink:

Looking at 29 degrees tonight Hoser and not much better tomorrow. A lady in a store told me it snowed in Milton ( 30 miles north and west) this morning. TX, LA, and MS are getting it right now. I don't know how much; but, down here snow is snow! It's the principle of the thing Mike. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Well as Christmas Eve is nearing Christmas day the night is clear, the stars are bright and the cold is settling in. The mercury has been drifting lower all day. As we button up for the evening the frosty thermometer said it was some where between -35 F and -40 F. The weather man said in might even be down to -50 F in low lying areas (most of this valley is low lying areas.) The snow is supposed to be on its way though wich is good tidings as snow brings warm weather. We're hoping for + 20 F by Monday. Hope there right!

If not, we're going to have to have Mike open the door again.

I wouldn't mind some of (A little bit, for a little while.) those below freezing temps right now. Snow is better than mid 60s and thunderstorms on Christmas Day. The rain blew out most of my outside lights last night.

Seems like we've had a hard time shifting from hurricane season to holiday season this year, but here we are and life is good.

Man, it's weird. Charlie gets snow down there in Texas and we get nothing here in Nebraska.

We got temps down around 0 or -2 F on Dec 23rd and 55 F on Christmas Day. Looks like most of this week will be in the 40's & 50's. Really a "funny" winter so far.

I keep dreaming of getting down to the Gulf where it's warm, but that's where Charlie got the snow. :roll:

Actually, I'm a "damn" Yankee - originally from Connecticut, who moved to Dixie, be it the northern part, and decided I liked it here, and stayed. Down here they just don't get big snows often enough to deal with it. Across the river one town started with 28 snow removal vehicles, and are now down to 4 due to wrecking them, or getting them stuck. They just can't drive in this stuff. Usually it will warm up and melt in a day or two, but that doesn't happen when you have a foot or more, and the temp heads down below zero. We may finally see it go above freezing today. I can only imagine what Houston was like Christmas - they can't even drive on dry roads down there. Glad I don't have any jobs down there til next month.

Anyhow, they are supposed to have the main roads finally open, so I am heading to a job west of here in Owensboro today to see if it is true. The flip side is, no place as pretty as Kentucky the rest of the year, except possibly NC, plus they have the ocean, too. 35 years away from the ocean now, and I still miss it. But I do enjoy our normally mild winters here, and the lakes and the Ohio make for good sailing. Lots of lakes, plus that long river. We actually have more shoreline here than any state but Alaska, so plenty of coves to explore and overnight in, and we probably won't see another snow this bad for 6 or 8 years.

Reminds me of the two years I spent in Iceland.....hit -75 one night, then a warm front moved in and we got about 3 or 4 feet of snow in 24 hours, but it was a balmy 20 or so.
