  1. I've been to Fort Jefferson twice and would love to go back and spend a week exploring. The Tortugas are awesome. Have a safe and fun trip! Watch the weather...
  2. Boats and boating are still my true love, but I've kind of removed myself from what this group is all about. When you're as bad at budgeting your time as I am... It's better to buy (finance) than it is to build, just to get yourself on the water. Or it will never happen. :? I've even become a, yes... "motorboater". Yet, the bug to build... Any suggestions for dinghy plans? I need something that tows well at 30 mph. And just to show that I haven't totally bailed out... The Jordan, Jolly Boat Rocker for one year old, great-nephew, "Noah" will be ready for Christmas. Noah's got to have his ark, after all.
  3. I thought I'd check in too... I Hope everyone had a good Christmas, and that things start turning around for our troubled world in the upcoming year. I have a feeling that being Konrad's kid, on Christmas would be a wonderful thing! Spoil em rotten, Buddy!
  4. I just got out of a nice, hot shower. I put on some clean, dry clothes, popped a beer, and sat down in a comfortable chair, in front of my computer. I had a good meal earlier, and will probably eat more than I should for breakfast. I know where all my loved ones are and that they are safe tonight, even my pets. Tonight, I will fall asleep in the air conditioned privacy of my own bedroom, with a good, firm mattress under my back, and a soft pillow under my head. In the morning, I will drive to work in my truck, with a full gas tank, to a job that still exists. I
  5. I think John Thomas, (He bought my unfinished Weekender.) posted here for a while. They're in Slidel, not far from New Orleans. My brother's wife has family in Mobile. Last week it was, "Naw, we ain't leavin'. It ain't gonna be that bad." The last anyone heard, they had salt water in the house, and were going to try to get out. (mumbling to self...) "Redneck arrogance". Anyhow, with the magnitude of the situation, I figure you can wish the best for everyone, but concentrate your hopes and prayers on those you know. The above is my short-list.
  6. Don't follow any sports, and don't get ESPN, but... Nebraskie vs F.L.A., you say??? KICK A**, FLORIDA!!! Oh, and Happy Father's Day, Buddy.
  7. I have those days more often than not!  A coworker turned me on to this for resawing wide stock. Use a finish nail instead of a fence. Cut as deep as you can from both directions on the table saw. Then clamp a piece of scrap ply on top of the bandsaw table, with the blade running through it. Drive the finish nail into the ply about 1/2" in front of, (tooth side) and in line with the blade. Leave it sticking up, but no higher than the depth of the cut you made with the table saw. Slip the bottom saw kerf over the nail as you start your cut. The nail guides the bottom of your board, keeping it centered on the blade, and you just eyeball things from the top.
  8. Any help for an old member who crossed over to the dark side??? (fiberglass powerboats) While running across the flats in the Keys last weekend, a buddy noticed that I removed my dime store sunglasses in an attempt to read the bottom better.

  10. I know some of you travel frequently. Can you point me to a good site for airline tickets? Got a wedding to go to in the Carolinas. Thanks, Bruce
  11. Man, If I'm going to keep lurking here, and even posting once in a while, I can't hid from this one. I sold my Weekender at the stage where it was ready to be glassed, and the buyer finished, and sailed her. I still think about building boats every day. And I keep an eye on things here, because this is a good group of people. 8)
  12. Common practice in Nebraski? :? Hey, when you were on Bradenton Beach, did you see the guys with the kite powered three-wheelers? Looked like fun. 8)
  13. Happy April Fool's Day, Mr. Hagan, and all!
