adla Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 i just want to share one of the reasons i haven't worked on the boat....the news reports today that temperatures were 115 .... they were closer to 121 at my house....it is just wrong. We are hoping for relief in the 105 range next week. Adla Quote

My garage is under the upper level of our house so it stays in the 80's till the afternoon. I have so many little things to do yet, it is sometimes overwelming. What do I work on today :? The rigging has me a little intimidated too. Too many choices. I got some of the standing rigging last week, and I am now trying to figure out how not to cut twice . Still don't have chainplates. Made the shells for the wooden blocks, but I think I ran the grain the wrong way. Might break down and buy some Harkin blocks. I did get to go on my first sailing trip this last weekend. My brother and his girlfriend invited me to go for the weekend to a Hunter boats regatta on the Columbia river near Sand Island/St. Helens She has a 32 ft. Hunter. Very fun!! Quote

I'm in St. Pete, and Bonnie will miss us but Charley is supposed to come fairly close of not right over us. Hopefully I can finish my hull glassing tomorrow and spend the rest of my time surfing when the storm hits. Quote

The straps are on and the plugs are out so she is ready. I tied the trailer to Sara's motorhome just for good measure. Well she did park in my boat spot right over the tiedowns. Bonnie isn't moving the truck for. Glad the glass is going well. It sounds like you are doing a careful job of it. Quote

I enjoy listening to your thoughts on just about anything. Perhaps you are a philosopher at heart, though I don't picture them moving quite as fast as you. Sorry everybody, the weather here has been quite nice for Philly summer (swamp weather prevails from Philly to Washington as a rule) barring the wild thunderstorms and attendant flooding. I have been lugging the Wild Child back and forth to a 2 week stint as a counselor-in-training at Sailing Camp. Cool, huh? She learned a lot, stayed cool in the Cooper River, but I am ready to shoot the car. Driving - ugh. Otherwise having fun puttering with fixing and rigging boats. Now we have a young friend from Yorkshire visiting to thaw out. Their climate is like Minnesota in the Fall, but for three seasons of the year. The other one is a really nice Spring. All you fisher folk take note, she is afraid of fish (watched some sort of horrible documentary on the telly and now terrified) but we are going to try her on a boat. Prayers are requested that they don't flip it. Happy end of Summer to all. 8) Quote

(i actually quit college 10 years ago after a string of apathetic F's)...iz so hot here...and that it gets so hot here is what was under my bum last spring. Kudzu Posted August 13, 2004 Posted August 13, 2004 121 is just unimaginable to me. We have had mid to upper 90's lately and of course 80% or higher humidity. You sweat like crazy but it doesn't do any good. I think that puts our heat index in the mid 100's? I visitied AZ a few years ago and the heat with no humidity was just wonderful. But 121?? I don't care if humidty was 0% thats hot! Quote

We worked at night and stayed under cover as much as possible in the daytime. The laundry was a very popular place. :?: They had huge portable water tanks with shade covers over them.
