We are interested in purchasing  a used Outer Banks 24 and are wondering if there are any out there for sale.   We built a Core Sound 17 Mark 3 and love it, so we'd like to stay with a B and B design.  We want to do the Great Loop in an Outer Banks.  Any thoughts?

Samantha- I don't think many of the 24 have been built. I guess Graham or Alan can confirm that. I am a bit biased but I think if you are going that route the OB26 is a better bet. You two might have to start building again:).

I believe you built a beautiful OB 26 called Rosie, which I have read about.  Nice job! We enjoyed building the CS17, but want to get going on this Great Loop idea before we get the infirmities of old age.

Samantha-I get it! Building always takes longer than expected. It is a different kind of pleasure(?) than the using/cruising part. That old age stuff has a habit of grabbing you when you least expect it. Enjoy!

You got that right on all points, especially the age part.  Building cold mold hulls , which can achieve  some shape in a hull does add some time from a straight sided hull.  But once you get the rhythm of cutting and screwing going, they come together quickly. Its the finish work that people get obsessed with  that can add time to a normal build of these hulls.

But plugging along in a wood shed shaping wood into a boat has a way of keeping the body moving, even when you hear the joints  bang together. LOL  Hope you are doing okay.  Just emptied the shed out and now is the time to really empty the shed out of the zillions of small pieces and remove the dust from the crevices .
