  1. Put your VHF radio in the ice box, Put jumper cables on your stays and throw the other end in the water. Reduce sail and put on your rain slicker. Your in for a bumpy ride.
  2. Stuart Benbow, I would like to see pictures of your boat. I have sailed (crewed) on a boat with two gaft rigged masts (65 foot Yawl) but it was allot larger then a Weekender. Please share what you have found out.
  3. Nice pictures, do you have any more?
  4. Isn't the sail going the wrong way? Well at least it floats. Enjoy your new boat.
  5. Your rollor looks like it close to your bow spirit. But it hard to tell. Are you going to hook it into a winch or just pull it up? I have been trying to work out a better way to do it on my boat so I'm intrested in what your doing.
  6. Try Fathers day, a story about the worlds smallest boat to cross Atlantic. After reading about a 6 foot 7 inch boat the weekender is truly a large boat.
  7. Metric, US standard, Wentworth. It real doesn't matter if you don't have the right wrench any way. In another few years they will come out with a new standard because no one goverment can stand to leave it alone. And besides, just the time you need it on your boat it will fall overboard. Would some one pass the coffee over here?
  8. Wow what a great trip. I for one would like to see more of your pictures. Have you ever noticed that we will get pictures of every one elses boats under sail but never our own. I have had mine for 11 years and not one of my pictures show it under sail.
  9. Chad, you cleat looks great. I take it that its made out of oak?
  10. Wow  thats a lot of port holes. You did a nice job
  11. I think Oak would make a great looking wheel. I don't think the weight will make a diffrence and it sould never ware out
  12. It will be intresting to see how the keel holds up. This may be a good idea for those who are having trouble getting wood for their keels.
  13. The boat looks good and the glass will be done before you know it. Keep those pictures comming.
  14. Wow my wife woun't even let me take my boat home.
  15. Ok the pictures are cool and at Force 5 the wind is blowing 10 mph ok I can see that. And the waves can be up to 4 foot, I would say his are between 2 and 3 so that fits. The boat is making a port turn by looking at the wake so it is possible that he could make the 20 knots or 10 mph in a strong gust, but maintaining it would be hard. It could happen, but I was not there so, hay why not. 8)
  16. Wow all these good looking Weekenders, we will have to have a Weekender boat show.
  17. Hay capt jake, its stopped raining. Where’s the pictures. When are you going to try it in the lake? Don't forget the camera. The clear sails must look different.
  18. Wow never knew Bondo could swell when it gets wet. Boy all the years I have used it on cars and boats. Never saw a single spot that I fixed swell when it got wet. Vinyl fabric is said to be waterproof and the harding agence. Methyl Ethy Ketone Peroxide and Dimethl Phthalate are not bound by water (H2O) only the Hydrogen Peroxide and that is resolved as the agent is released to air. If you are getting swelling its from the wood around the Bondo. Now you can buy the most expansive fillers but if you don't seal the wood you will not be any better off. Just a thought.
  19. They should have a drying to temp chart for minim and maxim drying time and temps. Check their web site.
  20. Wow what a problem, but it sounds like the best solution. Its hard to cut into something that you have already completed, but the sooner you start the sooner your be through it. Wisdom is gained by the information that we trip over.
  21. Welcome MisterMoon, boy do I know how pleasing the spouse can make boat work hard. Just trying to get mine ready to go into the water for the summer is an obstacle to working on the house. You know that job jar. ( or should I say 55 gallon drum. Could you please post the boats you were talking about? Always nice to see some ones handy work.

    Lateen rig?

I think you would have to make the mast box alot stronger. But it would make a simple rig other wise.
  23. Wow a vacation  I thought they were a myth Hope you have a great time.
  24. Always wanted to get a multi hull, maybe my wife wouldn't get sea sick for the first hour we are out. But putting it in a slip seems to be the biggest problem that I have heard of. I have talked to a few people that have them, (I need to bum a ride) But they have allot of money (and I don't) and very large slips. Going to try and get a ride this year.
