Got it all except; That's an under estimate :D ;D $1122 wold work. I just made two bronze HIN plates to be engraved. Approximately haw many characters in an HIN?? Excluding me as one of the characters Also, on the capacity; does #900 sound right? I would say that the max number of people would be 4 (and that's a stretch). Engrave this on the same plate?? Or is it not required? I am confused on this point.

OK, they made it really simple for me. Bring in the major receipts and tell them what it is worth. Does $1000 sound too low for them to buy?? Oh and they will also tax what ever value I put on the motor as well! Simple, I get the HIN right then and there. I wil take some of my left over Bronze and make a couple of plaques to have engraved.

Oh, I was thinking for the licensing with the State, not the calculations. I agree with you on that point.

OK, Tom probably has this right at hand but this is here for all; What is the 'proper' size to put the ID numbers on the side of the boat (ARRGGG)? Spacing also?....Placement, position... Tom mentioned that the HIN needs to be on the transom on the starboard side; what size, placement, etc?? Any other 'hidden' things I need to consider before bowing my head before the 'Revenue' dept????

Actually, all I have considered, and I have pondered this for a while, is the base molding. I figured I would cut off the 'curved' portion of hte moulding though. Thing is, it has to be stout enough not to buckle into the slot while still being flexible enough to allow the rudder box to travel easily too. Neoprene? are you referring to neoprene gasket material? Or maybe a thick (1/8-3/32") rubber mat?? That might work, though it will leave black marks all over whatever it hits.. Hmmm, another point to ponder as my painter is sick today... bummer!! Maybe tommorrow..

Yup, Dereck has it right. It is the base board moulding used in commercial buildings, etc. I have to wonder if neroprene would be stout enough. now I know 'neoprene' covers a WHOLE lot of product; which one are you refering to? As for pond liner, I haven't seen any of that, that would not 'cave' into the slot. Too flimsy, IMOO.
