I don't think I will have the sails by then. I was only kidding about the clear Mylar :D hehe!! They will be white Dacron. I have the registration in front of me, gotta fill it out and get it in the mail.

OK, we have been here before; but I am needing to order the graphics. What do y'all think about "Fire Escape", 'fire' would be in a smaller font than the 'escape' part. Well, I got my main sheet today. 3/8" NE sta-set in a color coordinated green! Got the eye splice in it in no time (3/8" is so much easier than 1/4"). I just hope it functions well with the ratchet block that I have; it seems a bit too large, but maybe with time and tension it will be ok. I have the track installed for the loose footed main, bridle is done, need to go to the sign shop to get the graphics done, need to register for the upcoming show (oops, I need a truck for that! another to do!!) !! Yanked out the chop saw and dust systems today! tommorow is the compressor and some other hidden 'treasures'! :D Might have to call a local boat builder to see if he needs some more stock! He he!! Yes I did. It was a challenge. I have an extra long jib halyard; my though was to take the standing end ( the one with the shackle to attach to the sail) and run it down to the forward eyebolt and secure it. Keep the halyard running through the block. Take the bitter and and run it down to the forward eyebolt also; then either feed it through the eye or through a block attached to the eye and back to where you are standing to step the mast. As you begin to raise the mast, there is a point where you can let go of the mast and continue pulling it up with the halyard. This should give a 2-1 advantage.

No need to fill anything more than screw holes and create your fillets prior to glassing. I also would use the microbaloon mixture. You will have to do final fairing and filling after the glass anyway. Save yourself the time.

FWIW, I installed the mast again!!! Stepped it 2-3 times. What a difference when all of the rigging is attached!!! ;( Only dropped it 2 times. I have all of the hardware in place and only have a wee bit of line to buy for the mainsheet. Oh, and one more turning block to use as a cheek block for the jib. i have to finalize all of the sail fitting when the sails arrive. Thnaks to some good advice from the coast, I covered it up just in time. It is starting to rain, whew! :) I have learned a lot in this mere half day of runing rigging; I will spell some of it out at a time when I won't get wet while taking photos. One thing is,Ii will rig the jib halyard to assist in the stepping of the mast. This will be an easy conversion with no extra hardware. I almost took a picture of my clear Mylar sails, but I ran out of time. They are truly 'clear'. :)

If you are talking about Oneocean kayaks, I have talked with the owner and built one of his kayaks. He is intensly informative and wants to share his knowledge. His epoxy tests are truthful, IMHO! As for RAKA, I love the stuff! Can't beat it for price either!

No troubles with laminations!! Laminations are your friend!! I f you want to borrow those set-up tables (ie solid core dorrs) you are welcome to use them. Saves me having to move them right away!

Hmm, I have been called for jury duty 2 times. Both times I htough I answered as to not be picked. Both times I did. Actually, mush to my surprise, I enjoyed both times. It was rather dull, but you have to pay attention to all of the goings on. One was attempted murder, and we let him off with a lighter sentence. the next was a total insurance fraud, but i really didn;t have a say in the outcome,. Let's say iItotaly disaggred (expecially when I saw her, the plaintiff, the next day......doing what she said she couldnt). It can be an enlightening adventure, if you let it!

Ohhh Ray, you described my new place. Thh heated bay has 8' ceilings while the other that is not heated has 16' ceilings. Hopefully in the next year or two, I will add onto the high bagh and heat that as well. As far as the tight fit, I am glad I did not leave the stub in place prior to putting her on the trailer. I would never be able to get the stub back out.

Yup, I hear you pain, my moving date is the end of the month. I think I will take the boat outside tommorrow regardless, then just cover it up. Makes more sense than keeing it inside. Now if the neighbor kids, dogs, etc, etc will leave it be. :)

I wish the weather would hold for a day or so. I have had the boat outside 2 times to take a few measurements for rigging, though now I need to do it again to finalize the forstay and the shrouds. I also have all of the halyards in plce with rough lengths. I need to step the mast to locate teh cheek block and fairleads. I have measured and re-measured; with mast in place, even if I take the tongue jack off, it will still be about 2" too tall to fit back in 'this' garage. bummer. I may relent here soon and through a poly tarp over it for a month until we move. The wife would really like the space in the shop to store stuff. I am still hoping to have it in the local show, but timing will be extremly tight, with the move and all. After that, I will have to re-side the entire house, paint inside and out. Then onto the interior flooring. All the carpet is coming out and we are hunting for a laminate flooring to install thoughout. Maybe after that, I can get onto outfitting the new shop! :D For the next boat, of course.

Unfortunately, that is all of the aluminum that I could find in this configuration. I too am going to add some sort of backing inside the lazarette.

Another thing I always do will all of my small gas powered tools is to pull on the rope until you just feel the compression. This closes off all or the ports and/or valves. Helps prevent damage from moist air.

Well Simon, the wya it is going, it will be wrapped in a poly tarp, ARRGG. I need to bust my bunns tommorrow and get this done. :) Well, almost done.
