Adla maybe if you tell us which pages are damaged some one with a set of Weekender plans will make a copy and replace the damaged pages for you. I don't think that the Stevenson's will mind sense it is obvious that you do have the plans but they are partly damaged. I would help but I am working on a PC. Good luck Ed

I am at a point where I need to install the two 1"x12"s on the transom on my Pocket Cruiser. I am not going to use the motor cut out but will use a bolt on motor mount instead. I am thanking of using a 2"x12" instead of the two 1"x12"s because it will be easer to find and less work to install, how do you feel about this? :?:

Bob your work and attention to detail brought back old memories of a friend of mine that died over 35 years ago. He was a "black powder gun smith" that restored old weapons that had been damaged by mishandling or neglect. I thought the quality of his workmanship died with him until I saw yours today. The quality and attention you exhibit is a lost art to day, try and pass it along if you don't it may be lost for ever.

Mike what I got was a new type of plastic insert in the standard metal prostheses. I was the first one East of the Mississippi River to get one. Now I am wishing that I was not the test patient. What is strange is 6 months ago it did not show any wear and now it is over half gone. I am thinking about asking my doctor to send the bill to the manufacturer. I was wondering what happened to you because I had not seen any post from you and now we know. I bet you were hard to live with for a while.

Barry that looks good let me know when you get the bugs worked out. I might want one. If it works like I thank it will you might be able to sell them.

Mike it is good to hear you are doing better Now it is my time to get cut on again, the doctor told me my left knee replacement has wore out after only 8 years. I will be going in after I put 2 more coats of epoxy on the cabin sides. He wanted me to go in two days ago, something about he had to do it before the prosthesis worked loose.

I stand corrected, what I am making is a "Mast Band" I will make a similar one for the bowsprit called a "kranz Iron". I just did a search for the proper spelling of "Kranz Iron" and the only spelling I can find is with a "z". Although the spell check has it with an "s".

Sorry to hear of your problem. That is why I am going to use a krans Iron (sp) on my mast. No photo yet, it is still at a machine shop being worked into the schedule. The said he would do it cheep if he could do it at a slow time. It will be made from 2" id. x 1/8" x 3 1/2" stainless steel pipe with 1/4" rod for loops. I will also be running the halyards down the shrouds and not the mast to get them away from the gaff jaws.

This is a very interesting topic. I have noticed that my PC plans call for single stays instead of the double stays. Someone I thank has no stays at all just a beefed up mast on his PC. I am thanking of adding another set of stays to my PC just for safety. Will an extra set of stays be necessary or just a waste of time and material? :?

I agree with Charlie and Greg, you will most likely have to start over. This time don't trust your pumps to measure, just use them to dispence the epoxy into a mixing cup with graduations marked on it. Dupont makes a good one that can be bought cheep at an auto paint store, about $1.00 each. What ever you do don't use Ever-Coat mixing cups they don't work good. I have learned the hard way on this advise. :?

The Skipjack taught me a good lesson, "old fat men with stiff knees don't belong in small boats" so I will leave the small boats to the young and nimble. :wink:

Below is the link I go to on eBay. The port lights were new surplus in unused condition [Pompolet]. I have bought all my blocks [some new some used], electrical wire and lights, 3 doz. clamps. I suggest buying only brand name blocks, I bought 2 no name brand blocks from England that don't turn good. I only bought 2 used blocks that will be used as flag halyards the rest are new Harkin. I never pay more than 1/2 of what West Marine wants. Check on eBay. I bought 2 - 8" X 15" new port lights with screens for $27.00 each awhile back.

A good friend of mine is wanting to build a racing kayak and the only plans he can find are for sea going or sport kayaks, can any one offer him some help in locating plans?

Derek I hate to see you give up your WEEKENDER you have done a grand job so far. Who ever gets your boat will be getting a gem.

Jan I installed 2 bottom drains. I drilled two 1" holes in the bottom next to the Main Bulkhead and seats, this is the low point on the hull. Then I filled the holes with a mixture of epoxy and graphite. Next I drilled a 1/2" hole for a drain plug.

I am going to install 4" deck plates in the rear deck of my PC to access the void behind the seats if needed, I will have two on each side. I bought mine on eBay.

I have a few gaps in my keel also, all I did was to fill them with epoxy. I will give you some good advice "don't glass the keel" if you do you will have rot problems later BTDT. If your keel wood gets water in it through cracks in the glass it will be trapped and cause rot.

Mike you are doing what I have always dreamed of. I panned the creaks and rivers of North Georgia for 23 years before my knees went bad. I started with a pan and wound up with a 4" dredge.

I agree with Barry 100% on what he has had to say. Every one forgot to tell you one important thing about strip wood construction, it requires a lot of frames, and a building form. I tried it once long a go when I was young and dumb and wound up with a lot of fire wood and no boat. We live and learn.

Paul I am glad you found a place to call home and hope you like it down here. You are only an 8 hour drive from me but that is closer than you were. After you get settled in a while you will you will learn why some folks call this part of the world God's Country.
