Well, got my order in for the 11.6 oz poly.... I have always used the 8 oz. The rudder assembly is removable..The way it works, you move the lever to the direction you want to turn...

Moving right along....This boat is for a friend who is in his 70's and has one of those 12' plastic Bass Pro tuperware boats....So I made up my mind to build him a real one. Even one he can take his little dog..... I decided since he doesn't have a place to store it at home, but maybe in his store in his work area hoisted to the ceiling..... http://www.whisperingwindstradingpost.com/ I am making it like a canoe. Could even be a tandem if removable seats are incorporated.... Progress...Mapping out 2 forms in the 4' space for and aft of the center form is a challenge..

Rod holders.....will be really low to avoid overhanging trees..... These Stitch and Glue plans have offsets for 5 forms... The gunwale, I am moving, creating a tumblehome side..

After a little over a year, doing another one....My 11th SOF... Another fishing boat, only this is for a 265 lb. person..... I am tweaking the plans I used for mine, increasing the beam by 14% about 4'' from 27'' to 31'' So I guess I'l be ordering 17' of the fabric soon...

5' X 10' same size as my teardrop hauler..... A storage box underneath is always handy, haul tents ,camping equipment etc...

Man, I'd like to see a more detailed boat pictured with a hint of the frame showing through the skin.... I also saw a sketch of this picture an artist did on one of your posts on another site....

That stained frame would really show through a translucent skin....

Sorry but no plans for this. I probably should but then I have to build something I have ZERO interest in. If you live on the coast and used it to surf, I can see it. But to stand up and paddle on a lake??? I don't get it. I couldn't understand how a guy competed in the MR 340 and finished on a SUP....came 31st out of 116 http://www.supthemag.com/features/standup-paddling-the-longest-river-race-in-the-u-s/

Excellent books, It set me off on my SOF journey....

Heck for ripping cedar 2X4's etc. from HD...I just use one of those 7 1/4'' skill saw blades they sell...Ends up being a thinner kerf than the standard 10''-12'' big blades....

I wish we had an instructor here in town for that...A group of us paddle about 5 miles every Tuesday evening once a week, but that's it... I, myself, am a kayak fisherman who dabbles in paddling.... Around here a lot of people train for the MR 340....

My okoume plywood insert paddle, is the one I have been using for 2 years now..it is 90''long 30'' between blades....

I always pre-drill the frame, then record the distance so it is easy to find after skinning...Then burn a hole in the fabric.....

I went to a local St. Park, an hour away...A spot across from a restroom and a fork in the road...Had tons of lookers, and plenty of conversations...Be interesting to set up a strong back and lash up a kayak while camping sometime, good interaction, a lot of local people camp at this park..... I can prop open the rear hatch high enough to get into all the cabinets, refrig. etc....

On those long pcs. I probably would have band sawed them, then finished them up on my edge sander.... I built a taper jig for band sawing a particular paddle from a cedar 2X4....

The larger piece secured to the fence , the off fall to the outside of the blade...Stand off to the side "of the line of fire" of the blade when cutting, and turn off the saw before removing the off fall piece away from the blade.....This is the way I have always done it...

Was the off fall between the fence and the blade? Like in the photo? If so, no wonder!!!!!!
