  1. Does anyone have any thoughts about using the LED running lights that operate on D cell batteries? I have not found such a discussion in any of the threads. Thanks, John CS17#102
  2. I have the CS 17 in the works. This subject is concerning me. Has stepping the mast on the trailer been a problem for many of you? Thanks, John CS17 #102
  3. Rob, Close ups would be great. I have found a shop that will make stainless steel parts for me at a reasonable price. Thanks, John
  4. Rob, I noticed in the motor mount pictures that you have your tiller mounted to the rudder with stainless steel pieces. Are these your design or did you find some already made? Thanks, John CS17#102
  5. Joe, that sprayer sounds good enough for even me to try. Which specific model is it? Thanks, John CS#17 102
  6. I am bending 1"x2" ash rails on my CS17. It is hard to bend, but not impossible. I'll try to get a couple of pictures for you. However, mine are unfinished at this time. I am planning on using Cetol, when the time comes. John CS17#102
  7. Ray, I was looking at the pictures of your boat, which I greatly admire, and am wondering about how you mounted you outboard. I have the same brand with 3.5 hp, but since it is a short shaft, I have been worried the lower section not being in the water enough. Any problem with yours? Thanks, John CS17 #102
  8. Richard, on another issue, how are you handling reefing of your sails? It looks like it can get pretty windy where you are. Thanks, John CS17#120
  9. Thanks, Richard. I have bounced back and forth trying to decide whether the deck on my boat should be bright or painted. Cetol sounds like a good way to go.
  10. Richard, I love the look of your boat. Really terrific. One question: did you say that you used cetol on your deck, etc. What kind of finish does Cetol give. I am guessing that it is not bright like a varnish? Thanks, John CS17 #102
  11. Brent, thanks for the reply about the lights. I looked through the older discussions and found your thread about the lights, wiring etc. Very helpful. I sure wish I could find running lights that would have the required 1/2 nm visibility that would run on one of those 6v alkaline batteries or regular alkaline batteries. Does anyone know of any? Thanks, John CS17#102
  12. Hi Brent Looking at your picture it looks like you have running lights. If so, how are you powering them ie what type of battery. Thanks, John CS17#102
  13. I used System 3 primer and topcoat on my first boat. The primer is great, with a good build and fairly easy to sand. The top coat (LPU) was more of a problem for me. I never got a fine finish with roll and tip. Probably just my fault. But the finish does seem to hold up well to bangs and scrapes. I am planning to use Easypoxy primer and topcoat for my CS17 hull. I am inclined to try the latex acrylic enamel from Sherman Williams to see if I cpuld get an acceptable result for the hull. John CS17#102
  14. Graham, I think I will go with the sail track. Can I still use wood for the top portion of my mast or does it need to be aluminum? John CS17#102
