Poco Barta offsets

I have been trying to plot the offset measurements for the Poco Barta but it just doesn't look right to me. Has anyone tried this and if so can you help me?

I have yet to see a finished Poco Barta photo, which amazes me. It should be a better all around boat than the Curlew but no one builds it for some reason.

 

Lofting appears simple but it is not as easy as it looks. a few people find it easy but most struggle with it, at least at first. There are several on here that have lofted boats but I think you are going to have to provide a lot more info to get any help. Photos are a big plus!

I am obsessive about it in small scale.

What is throwing me is the fact that the drawing looks too narrow. The book says 23 inches but I come up with a hair over 20 inches.

Maybe I need to order the plans instead.

From the book the widest frame by a hair should be the one at 9'3" with a width of 22 1/2", next would be the 6'5" frame at 22 6/16" width.

It just hit me. The point of maximum beam is probably not on a frame.

I forget you're only drawing frame shapes, and not the whole boat.

Your frames are probably perfect, and when you bend in your gunwales, they will bend to a shape whose max width is +- 23".

Yes this helps. I didn't want to ruin perfectly good plywood to find out I had screwed up the frames.

First, your frame should be within an inch +/- of the width. The boat is slightly wider than the frame but not by much.  The widest frame is frame 9' 3" and it is 22 1/2" wide to the Gunwale. Are you measuring to the corner of the frame notch?

Unless the shape is wrong, it looks fine to me. As an outline, not a frame.

The fun part is drawing the notches and swoops bits.

If you're really, really nervous, use a piece of scrap to make a trial frame. Even if you buy something to use, it's an investment in yourself.
