What cording to use.

I am almost ready to cover my Mess About, and I plan to use the 2 cord stitching method. I would think that the cording is available locally, but I don't know if is known by some other name. The word "welting" or something similar comes to mind, but I really don't know.

 

What size is best. I guess that 1/8" to 1/4" would work. I think polyester or nylon would work. Certainly not a cotton blend.

 

This is my first kayak. I need all the help I can get.

Most any synthetic should be fine. Parachute cord would work if you have it available. I used the black cord I sell since that it what I had and was  happy with it.

I am guessing that the key spec for the chord is diameter and that 1/8" or 3/16" is best?  Jeff?

I used regular parachute cord and it worked great.

I have only used the 3/16" cord I sell and I wouldn't want anything larger just for cosmetic reasons.  I think a smaller cord would a little better. Give it a fine, cleaner look.
