CS 17 birdsmouth mast

I'm working on a wooden mast for my CS 17. The directions say to cut the narrow end of the staves to 1 1/16" at the wide part of the stave. I cut it exactly 1 1/16". I put the mast together 'dry' to see how everything fit. The drawings say the small end should be 1 5/8". Mine measures 2 3/4" O.D., 1 7/16" I.D.  What went wrong??? Are the dimensions on the plans wrong? Any ideas?

I believe you misread the dimension.  My read on the plans is 11/16", not 1 and 1/16".

Oversize, no problem.  You can trim to correct size.

After looking at the plans again it makes sense. That's lucky, for once, that I can cut more off instead of starting over. Another good thing is I've only cut the main and not the mizzen, so I can correct before cutting it.

What are the length of the CS 17 masts and the O.D.?  I'm curious to know if they're the same as my BRS 17 as I would like to make some bm masts.

The O.D. at the bottom is 3 1/4", the top is 1 5/8".

Par- I read the plans more than twice, I just didn't read them correctly. I thought it looked like there was a space between the ones, but obviously not. Anyway, nothing harmed(this time), just more practice cutting, hah!
