Tom Lathrop
There is some coverage of Marissa and the PT Skiff as well as the winners of this year's design contest winners on Proboat's website. http://www.proboat.com/
Pullinlivebait
WOW.....I sure would like to get some performance numbers and a couple of pictures of the deck layout. It looks like it sure is moving along and only has a 30(suzuki) according to the article on it, just imagine a 60(suzuki) on it (the max on plans).
Designer
Here is a fun shot of Marissa jumping out of the hole being driven by Marissa. She does about 22 knots with the 30. If you plot 30 HP on the speed prediction graph on Marissa's web page you will see that it is about 22 knots. Our GPS conveniently fried when she was launched and the tachometer is on back order so it will be a couple of weeks before I can fine tune the boat and have hard numbers.
Tom Lathrop
OK, I'm gonna say it. Marissa's attitude is way better than the PT Skiff in the videos. Bound to be much better running into chop and also much stiffer. Fishing over the side in the PT would be an adventure.
Gordy Hill
I agree Tom! Also, it looked to me like the stern was digging in a bit with just one aboard and he was well forward. Some trim tabs might help him quite a bit.
ecgossett
Both boats look great!! I did read a review about the PT Skiff in a Epoxy Magazine.. The only thing that looked really good was the kit featured at http://ptwatercraft.com/ptwatercraft/PT_SKIFF.html had a decent price including everything and epoxy. For people wanting to save a lot of work and shopping around for materials this isn't a bad deal.. Other then that the Eco 18 seems to have better handling. Now if we could take the windshield off the PB and put it on the Eco 18...
Dale Niemann
Edward, I am curious. Why do you want a windshield? Dale
ecgossett
I've been out on center console's a couple of times when it was nice having a fold up windscreen or a fixed one.. It improves your visibility in bad weather due to not having wind or spray in face at high speed.
Ray Frechette Jr
I reckon one could get a screen to fit easily enough, either make one, or hire someone to make one...
