Posted March 30, 2003 Posted March 30, 2003 Well, instead of doing chores today, I headed out to the paddlesports show and got inspired to get my butt in gear and get the boats ready for spring...of course it's going to rain and snow over the next couple of days. The good news is that my Thule Hull-a-ports that I bought to fit on the Suburban I used to have should fit the Yakima bars on my old Explorer. I hope that turns out to be the case, as it will save me a bunch of money to get new saddles. Anyone here have any direct experience doing this? Quote

And I have enough trouble just handeling the sheets and lines on my little sailboat and I don't know how I'm gonna add some fishing line to the mix :roll: . But guys, man alive are there some big ol fish jumping in the Hudson at times when I go sailing. Now obvoisly I dont know about eating no Hudson river PCB fish but catch and release may be fun way to hang out. Figure I could sail out to a local spot drop the sheet and cast a line. But beyond that IDEA I haven't got a clue how to fish. Quote

As far as rigs, consult your local tackle store for the types rigs, for the fish in your area. Quote

Remember what Red Green says-"When the going gets tough, switch to power tools" For your pond dredging try to find someone with a long stick excavator, they can dig out your pond and pile it up to let you use it once the water drains out of the pile. For your pond entrance you need to build some gabions, which are what Donn said they are, a piece of chain link fence fabric filled with rock. They are about 3' square and filled with rocks about the size of a basketball. For your wildflowers check out this site http://www.prairienursery.com/ We went to a seminar put on by the guy that runs this company, he has been doing this for 31 years and is an expert because he has made every mistake you can make. It isn't something that you can do overnight, you have to kill all the weeds first, but once it is established it takes from 1 to 5 hours per year to maintian it (which consists of burning or mowing it off) Quote
