There was a time a few years ago I was kicking around the idea of making the smller of the Uncle John's boats shown here (which I know you've seen):  http://www.unclejohns.com/skiff/Default.htm

I own a Mercury 3.3 hp outboard.

You think it'd push the 60 pound 9-footer around decently?

I think it *could*, but may be at the top limit of a 3.3.

Thoughts?

That boat likely has too much rocker in the bottom to get much over 6 or 7 MPH on 3 HP. Now if the rocker remained the same in the forward half, but was dead flat (didn't rise up again, when viewed from the side) from midship to the transom, it would get in the 15 MPH range with you, a cooler full of beer and Fidel the well fed wonder dog aboard.

He's just on loan to me from der weiner schnitzel down in Florida.

Come to think of it, that avatar reminds me a LOT of the dog in the Foghorn Leghorn cartoons.
