Mike Vacanti Posted March 12, 2003 Posted March 12, 2003 I'm starting to get the itch to build another boat. I finished building a Bolger Junebug in May 2000. I like the looks of the Core Sound 20. I need the room for my wife and 3 kids, it's getting pretty crowded in the Junebug. I got a quote from Edensaw for the necessary amount of occume plywood, they want $850.00 for the wood delivered to my house. This total includes about $230.00 just for shipping. Does anyone know of a marine plywood distributor within 100 miles of Sacramento, CA? Has anyone used the 1088 occume from Edensaw? The guy I spoke with said it is imported from Greece. I dont know if you have a truck...but if you have the wood delivered to your town and pick it up at the terminal rather than on site delivery it is cheaper. Quote
Guest terry Dunn CS 20 #36 Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 I bought 12 sheets 6mm okoume and 4 sheets 3/8" marine fir from Edensaw for about $850, including packing and delivery to Denver. I picked it up at the terminal with my minivan. It was a tight fit as the okoume is 98.5 inches wide and a little longer than 8". If I had it to do over, I would have gone with 9MM meranti rather than the marine fir for the bottom pieces. Most of my okoume sheets were stamped Edensaw. A few were stamped Jobert. This is my first experience with okoume and so far I have not been dissapointed. I wish I would have listened to Carla and used it for my Spindrift. Quote
capt jake Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 FWIW, I have gotten quotes from Edensaw (and I live near to them). If I made an order greater than (bear with me as I can't recall the exact figure) $1000 or $1500, they would deliver to my door no charge. All I am suggesting is that you may want to buy some more for a future project or pool the order with another to bring the amount up there. You may want to call them and ask them what amount is needed to get the break. They have always been very friendly and nice to me on the phone. They are definitely getting my next order, of course it will be larger; you always build a bigger boat, right?? Quote

The place mentioned in Chowchilla would only be about $50.00 cheaper and I'd spend at least that much driving there. If I end up building the boat I'll probably just order the plywood from Edensaw. The price they quoted was for delivery to my house. Quote
