I use Round Up in place of the trimmer.   I used to run the Weed Eater too many times each year.  I finally started 'edging' with Round Up.  It takes little bit of timing and small effort here (in between rain and waiting for the temps to be high enough to work) but it saves me tons of time in trimming.  In the 'wilder' areas, this year I sprinkled Casaron and it has worked wonders!

No more unwanted grass and weeds in those areas.

I also use a pre-emergent weed preventer in the flower beds.  Snap Shot and Surflan are the two that I have had great succes with (similar to Preen, but way cheaper)  I get all of this through a wholesale supplier.  I just had to fill out a small amount of paperwork to open a cash taxable account (they are accountable to the Feds for some products sold).

I used the Weed Eater once this year, first time in 4 years, to crispen the edges on one bed.

Were you flying that thing out near Branched Oak? All of that area looks much the same, but Branched Oak came to mind when I was looking at the background.  Was that thing as hard to fly as it appeared?
