After two short years of building I have finished my boat.

Thank all of you for your help, I have stolen all you ideas and tried to learn as much as possible.

I am a novice sailor and an even more novice boat builder. I don't think it could have been any better.

If any of you out there don't think you can build a great looking boat on you own, please reconsider. If I could do it, anyone can. Also, don't be intimidated by the guys on this forum and their awesome looking boats. Remember you are building a boat not a helicopter. The guys here are a great resource and i could not have finished my boat without their help, even though they did not know they were helping.

I was so impressed with myself when i finally wheeled it out of the garage where it sat for a year and a half. Once I got her into the sunlight, you can't see all the little imperfections i thought would look so bad, it was like they disappeared. I am so excited to get "Cuyahoga" wet, but, I am going to try to find something else to do as a hobby. I am already going through builders withdrawal.

Charlie in Port Lavaca, TX, I have a Game Warden inspection on Monday here in San Antonio, Do i have to bring the masts or just the hull? I am getting conflicting reports from the TDPW. I am leaning towards bringing everything.

I plan to sail In Rockport Texas, in Copano bay near our house with my wife,2 year old son, and 3 week old daughter. Not all of them right away of course but I don't think i could have picked a better design, Designer, or set of plans anywhere.

Congratulations! We're about one week away from the end of building our CS20. In fact, we're varnishing this weekend, but we still have to make the gunwales also.

About the pictures... I'd love to see some. If you have a photo-editing program that allows you to reduce resolution, you can set the resolution of the picture to 72 dpi (about as much as a monitor can display anyway) and then the picture can be as big as 1000 pixels wide or more at that resolution. That's how I post mine.

I am already thinking of how I can improve it. My wife and I love fishing and I am contimplating how I might get a livewell under the stern seat.

I don think I would want to put it on either side, unlesss I get one of those drop in hatches/container things Cabela's has.

I just dont want to keep putting holes in the bottom of my boat before I even get it in the water.

We are going to the coast this weekend but cant take the boat since it has yet to be inspected. I will have to wait another 2 weeks to get her wet.

Might as well take it all. You probably won't HAVE to have the masts, but why chance it. As a pro builder I don't have to go through that and on our big boat he came to us.

I have to drive to Rockport in the morning. Got to meet with an owner in House of Boats. A boat I'm doing some rigging on. When you get down here, get in touch. I'd love to see your boat.

give me a call. 210-392-9291.I will be down there tonight. I wont have the boat with me since it has yet to be inspected and we live full time in san antonio. I dont want to get fined for sailing in public waters without my registration. Plus I have never seen a warden on copano bay but with my luck they will be all over it if I took the boat out this weekend.

Hmmm... a livewell might go better in the forward area, or else it might impair sailing performance if the weight of the water is so far aft. Not sure how full you fill a livewell, but water is heavy and having it aft could make the stern squat undesirably.

If you place it forward, you might be able to pipe water to it through a open/close valve that attaches to the CB case (removing the need to cut yet another hole in the hull bottom).

Just an idea. Not sure how plausible it is. I've never made or used a built-in livewell.

Just wanted to know where you got your ply from, as I am up the road in Austin from you. I got plans for #239 CS17 a month ago, and still researching local places for supplies.

I see the Charlie goes to Houston (At least that is what I am able to guess) for his ply.  Austin has Aquatek local, but looked it over and saw some voids on the side of the 1/4".  :'( North side of Houston is not that bad a drive and would save $$$ on delivery for some Hydrotek or Okoume.

I'm leaning for the icebox/well for fish also for #239, once I get that far along.  Great fun catching some reds off of Port A.

Need to clean out the garage first....

Hey Martin- enjoyed the visit on Saturday.

I was in Rockport on business and Martin was playing. We met up at the local Taco Bell, chatted for a while then went to the soon to be closed West Marine store to see about bargains.

1/4 Sta-set at .15 foot ain't bad!!!

Got my new inflatable registered today along with the old 2 HP Merc I had gotten some time ago. Now we're all legal. Hope yours went well.

That's what I thought - Houston Hardwoods, but just checking if anything new has popped up.

It will be a while before I am ready to get the ply, so hopefully Houston will get cleaned up and power back on. I grew up not far from H.H. and remember what Alicia did in '83. No power for weeks and piles of downed trees all over the place.

First, I need to finish the garage. That's one project that I need at least 95% done before moving on to the boat! I need to pile up the other projects and honey-do's that are 50% done out of the way...  ;D

I to am totally legal now.THe  inspection went well. I had to tell the game warden what all I needed. I guess they don't do too many homemade inspections here in San antonio.

I will be down to rockport  for Sea Fair, but due to the little ones I cant get the boat in the water until then.

I really enjoyed our visit, and look forward to seeing you again.

Hey- congrats on getting legal. Now the fun begins.

I had to run down to Rockport yesterday to resolve something on the boat I'm supervising. Spent a total of 30 minutes on site and drove back home.

Laura and I took our new inflatable dinghy out for a test run yesterday. I went to the tax office and got it all legal on Monday, so we both did it the same day ;D

7'6" Achilles LS2RU. Wooden floors. 2.2 HP Mercury engine. It won't plane with both of us aboard but it will run 6 or 7 mph, which is better than I expected. We had tried it under oars earlier . Here's Laura rowing it
