He is trying to figure out which way he drives on the blue road across the country to make sure he can return on the red roads. Whos ta be afraid of the ol dingo??? :shock: man Im a placid quiet unassumin sorta fella I is! 8) Theres 3 competitions shes been invited to the first and main one is in Kelowna called the Jack Bow meet then Calgary and then one in Vancouver ...The first is on the 28 - 30th June then a couple of days later on the 3rd in Calgary then the final one on the 6 & 7th July. Then our times our own!!! :twisted: and thats when all heck will break loose!! HA! The plan was to head directly into Vancouver... but having looked at prices we are considering going into Seattle and driving up from there and after the meet head back to Seattle and travel through the States from that side and across... Initially we had thought direct to Van on the 18 - 19th (but will probably on revision of times etc push that out to the 24th or 25th) then do the comps fly to Halifax then drive down into the states and leave from LAX on the 30th taking in most of the states and Canada... Now we think it would be best the other way and hopefully getting to NY with enough time to zip up to Maine and Halifax and back before we have to fly out... but were pretty flexible! if we can leave the end of the trip a little open we would be kinda happier but the missus likes to have dates etc although after 20 years youd think possumpoop would realize me and dates times etc have nothing in common!! At this stage we still have a fair bit of time to sort an itinerary out... a vehicle of some sort or other... and meet ups along the route. There will only be myself and Tiffany at this stage... although Bethany is trying to tighten the noose around me little finger in an effort to come as carry on luggage!! :wink: Dont worry I will keep all appraised of whats happening!! as I get more and more confused with what the blazes Im trying to get together I will need answers to the questions as they get me going!! :evil: blasted SUVs and such confusin things!! I mean a mobile home is a mobile home right?? a vehicle with two beds a stove a fridge and a couch is a what??? mmmmmm??? type A type B Type C talk about confuse a fella!! In fact, if you are driving between, say, Calgary and Vancouver...the fastest route will take you 2 blocks from my place. Get out your little map there. From Calgary, head south on Hwy 2 to Fort MacLoud...turn right on Hwy 3...just keep going for 5 hours or so and you go right through grand Forks on your way to Vancouver. It is a beautiful drive. Kelowna is exactly 2 1/2 hours from here. A gorgious place, huge lake and hot. We have a guest suite and would be tickled pink if wanted to hang here for a spell. Week days/ week ends, does not matter. It would be fun to have you and your daughter visit. Hell, I will even take you sailing if you like. I sail in one of the most beautiful lakes in all of Canada. I know you will be getting a lot of invitations, just keep old Tim in mind.... and if it works out...it works out Quote

Tim Diebert Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 BTW...It would be a full days drive (8 plus) hours from Calgary to Grand Forks. So it is a natural stop over point if you are going to Vancouver...which would be another 6 hours from Grand Forks. The drive from Calgary is wonderful. 3 hours of dead straight almost flat prairie highway, then once you get out of the foot hills into the Rockies you get to cross three major mountain passes on your way to the coast. There are some very grand sites to see. This region must be nice enough, the area is filled with tour buses filled with all manner of foreigners all summer long...I think most of them are Australians Actually...now that I think of it, you are going to be so close that I now insist that we make a plan to at least have a beer or coffee...even if we have to scoot over to Kelowna while you are there Quote

Somehow I don't think he as a SCALE map of North America. :roll: But I sure would like to have him and his and share a yarn with him. Now that I know it will be summer time and I should be out of the deep freeze we could have a BBQ Party at our place with all those in the neighborhood make a pilgrimage. I think we can work out the automobile thing. We have a spare one that maybe when he gets to the east coast, we can teach him how to stay to the right and dodge the orange barrels on the interstates, and get him through the the bulk of the tour. Can you amagine the poor Customs Agent at the border, when he is done checking him in, the big gulp he will need at the end of the days work? :wink: Quote

The Dingo is completely outnumbered by women in his household so will be at the mercy of any girls attending the traveling fiasco. Should be quite amazing. I, too, feel for anyone in customs or security. How will they understand him? Maybe it's better if they can't? Quote

After reading his update and receiving an e-mail from him, I posted the message to the effect that it may work out as an alternative. I will not and care not to share info with those other ones anymore. I have had enough of the same old crap. Any of the good people that are left on that other place communicate with me by private mail, anyway. I scan, but nothing left there but assaults everyday, different story. I tried to carry on some decent discourse, but the forum has turned into a politcal forum that favors a different take than I choose to live, that I don't post anymore. I have been in and out lately, but it is very boring for me, anymore. Most of the boat stuff is just incidental stuff lately anyway for me. I had shared some chine stuff but received an e-mail from a legal fellow to the effect that I would probably be held liable for any tripping that occurred so I removed it and left the technical stuff to whoever else chose to post their ideas from reading text books and boating magazines. I don't mean to hijack this thread so i will leave it for now. I don't know if you are aware of my background, but it has consumed more than the average JoeBlo in power boating. This is not brag, but just a statement of fact. I am very proud of what I have been able to do in the marine industry. But retirement took care of any building except a small runabout or two a year. Guest Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 Just another fuss, when you add the underlying factor in all of the last three to four months, and I had all the family issues to deal with, Not worth it for just an online forum. The board had gotten so large, it took a lot of effort to cover it all. Then the fuss spilled over to the technical areas, not on my spare time, no way. I still e-mail with a bunch, for a chitchat. The best part has been the elbow bending groups. Hard to put it into words the enjoyment we all received from the weekends meetings. Quote

Well it remains to be seen where and how and when of his schedule. A lot can happen between the time he is slated to go. I am sending him a Walmart atlas to scan with his peepers. He will have some planning to, to take in all the sites he wishes to see. He will have his 17 year old, and the last thing she cares about is wooden boats. If he can take in some of tourist stuff, then the trip will be a success for both of them. A lot has to do, also, with how she ends up in the competition as to the mood she will travel with. If you have had children in sports events, you will understand this portion of it. Quote
