Weekender plans

Hey everybody.  I just joined on here, looking around for more boatbuilding info, etc, and getting ready to start building a sailboat.  Problem is, the one I really want to build is on stevproj.com & I can't get them to reply to me.  I want to build a Weekender, which looks like a fast building, strong little boat.  Are they out of businees or something?  I was wanting to order plans, patterns & the DVD the website says they have.  If anybody knows about them or has the plans & DVD for sale, I'd really appreciate the info.

They are a family-owned business, and they often are slow in responding on these things.  That's balanced out by a pretty active user-community of people who have built the boat, here and at the byyb.org. 

In the meantime, you can look at other boats people here have built.  The Core Sound series of boats are better sailers, but they do not have a cabin.  The Bellhaven is a larger boat, about the size of the Vacationer, really, but it is also a better sailing boat (and more expensive to build).

For me it sounds little bad if someone wants to build weekender (s)he cant get the plans and have to wait if the would sell the plans. How many builder would do that?

heck.. we know that they can do it because they already made the Mini cup available for free, rather than going through the hassle of re printing.

The Weekender would be easy because it's plans exist in "plan book" format.    The PC would be harder, because my copy is in large format... Yep.. I have a set of unbuilt PC plans, but am unwilling to part with them at this time...  I have a more than 20 year history with my Stevenson's boats and am too nostalgic to let go.

I'm mighty tempted to figure out a way to see if a person has sent a paypal payment to the Stevensons and then send them a "get started" copy..

I can't begin to know what's going on in Mike's life, but I think it's kinda sad, and would almost rather they took down the web site than to not actually be reachable....

How hard can it be... reply to inquiries and orders once a week...  If the volume is high.. it should be lucrative enough to be worth doing, or to pay someone to do it... if the volume is low.. what's the big hairy deal?  They might even want to enter into discussions with Duckworks.. they've been successful handling other designers.

Were I to be choosing a plan for the purpose I intended for the weekender when I built 10 years ago.. I would probably take a hard look at Jim Stumphs boat that he launched last year  (design name??)...

Or the Bellhaven from b and b

Both are probably much more capable boats than the weekender when it comes to actual onboard camping accomodations.  Both can get you into the shallows, and both can be trailored without having a huge tow vehicle.

I too have been trying to buy plans for the Weekender. I wonder if anyone has an unbuilt set of plans for sale.

Ok, I have a set of plans and the video tapes that go with it (not the CD's).  The plan pages are in plastic holders that fit in a three ring binder.  I put them that way so they wouldn't get messed up.  I will send them in the holders without the 3 ring binder (it adds too much weight and everyone has three binders around).  I can't remember what I paid for them but it was $70+ I think.  I will sell them for $60 which includes the parcel post cost.  Contact me via e-mail address it is in my profile.  Money order? certified check?
