Designer Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 Randy and I have been busting our butts over the last couple of weeks to build our launching ramp. What better way to launch the ramp than to launch P22#18 and take her for a sail. Tony was happy to oblige and bring his boat to be the guinea pig. On the first attempt with the water down about 6" and we were short by about 6". With a slight adjustment from the tractor and we now have 6" more water. Tom came over and we all had a pleasant sail even though the wind was very light. Quote

Designer Posted December 3, 2007 Author Posted December 3, 2007 The ramp is concrete and will stay where it is permanently. The concrete sections are called hog slats and were develloped for hog pens. They are 2' x 8' and are 4" thick and weigh about 550#. We built a wood frame of treated 4" X 6" so that we could lag screw the slats in place until sand fills in the slots to keep everything in place. We used 2 X 10 foot sections on the dock. I don't know anything about the trailer except that it launched and retrieved boat very well. I will ask Tony about it when I see him next. Quote

Designer Posted December 5, 2007 Author Posted December 5, 2007 Joe, Yes it is a 4 hp Yamaha. We idled out and I gunned the motor for a few hundred yards and it went very nicely. It seemed to be more than enough in the flat water and light headwind. We had no speed measuring device on board but I expect over time I will learn more. Quote
