capt jake Posted April 27, 2007 Author Posted April 27, 2007 Well, let's see here. It handles a 'chop' ok. The water got rougher, the longer we were out yesterday. Waves were just starting to break on their tops (white caps). Could only go about 8 MPH in that. Earlier, and in the protected areas, the water was a bit smoother and we were able to get to 25 with no problems. Old original Airguide speedo worked great! Only had to clean a piece of kelp off once. That convertible top was real saver for sure. Rounding one of the islands, we had spray coming over the bow and dousing the windshield (I like those little manual wipers). The top also keep us warm and out of the wind, though the spray did soak the rear seat area. Launch went well, I have to re-work one thing one the trailer, no big deal. Slight noise with the motor that I couldn't isolate. I took it to the service shop on the way home and they found a spark plug that was possibly not tight enough (they did the service). We will have to wait and see on that one. Pictures to follow.. Quote
capt jake Posted April 27, 2007 Author Posted April 27, 2007 She sat true to the waterline. I took rough measurements before stripping the paint and then transfered those lines back on. She listed slightly to port due to battery placement. It started out partly cloudy and quickly got darker during the day. Here is my Grandson and Son in law. My Grandson had a ball! Before the chop got worse. I have to admit, I think I may like power boating more than sailing after yesterday. I had a little more control over my destination. 5 hours and a tad over 6 gallons of fuel. Quote

capt jake Posted April 27, 2007 Author Posted April 27, 2007 I think it would be easy to make it there. My docking skills need a LOT of improvement though! It doesn't turn as easy as the Weekender. :shock: I should add that I had several very positive comments at launch, retrieval and a break at one of the marinas. One fellow I talked to for quite a while. He asked me all sorts of questions and said everything looked really good. It turns out he is 'the' local surveyor! I also asked him about the use of the SS fasteners in place of the original steel (or galvanized, not sure which) fasteners. He said it will all be fine as I covered the outside with Dynel/epoxy and coated the interior with epoxy. Quote
