I had a great time sailing with Capt. Jake, Barry and Joel. It was a long day, my old backside got a tad sore. As Joel said, the morning was a little slow, but the company and the climate were perfect. Speaking of perfect, you should see Joel's "Island Girl", she is a beauty. Nice job Joel. I took about 50 pictures. When I figure out how to post them I will. I wish I was a better story teller, I find it difficult to put into words how great it felt to be out sailing with such a super bunch of guys. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Stevensons have been very hard to get in touch with lately. Perhaps there is someone out there who has a set of plans they haven't used. I am building a PC, but one boat to a set of plans. Good luck

Andrew, PLEASE be careful with the cannon. A six year old was killed in our area this past July 4th. His Grandpa fired off a 20 year old, commercially made cannon and it exploded. Grandpa had been doing the same thing every forth of July for 20 years. The little guy was better than fifty yards away from the explosion.

Wow Joel, your boat looks great. I have to agree with P Doug....Ya gotta mess up that shop a little bit. I have the messed up shop part down pat, now all I have to do is find a way to do your kind of craftsmanship.

;D I had my surgery last Thursday morning, Friday morning I walked out of the intensive care unit and Sunday I came home from the hospital. Just finished my first one mile walk. I am a very lucky man. All of your prayers and thoughts were heard, Thank you so very much for your kindness. I feel like a puppy. Can't wait to get going on my PC. By next summer, the Pacific NW Fleet should by quite impressive. Take care all. MIke

:)I finally got to sail a real sailboat today It may take several weeks to get the grin off my face. Two of the nicest guys I know, Capt. Jake and Barry Pyatt took me sailing. Capt. Jake graciously let me man handle his beautiful weekender. Barry patiently showed me as much as he could about sailing and seamanship. He had to start real simple. The pointy end is the bow and goes forward. So much to learn, so little time. To say I had a great day today, is a huge understatement. I sent an email to Mike about two weeks ago regarding PC sails. I got a prompt answer. I have even been able to talk with Mike on the phone. There must be a glitch in the system somewhere. I am 100% happy with Stevensons Projects.

The stuff is pretty strong, but it is NOT waterproof. I use some on some boards around the pool. The joints went bad during the winter. If you follow the directions and wet one suffice, it will bubble out of the joint as it dries. Good stuff, but needs to be used on the right application.

Very pretty Jim. I'm sure you are very proud of Princess. I am building a PC, I really wish I would have seen your boat before I ordered my PC plans.

Sell your weekender :shock: I agree with Joel. Your weekender is about as nice as they come. If he didn't balk at 4k I would go for more. Buying your kind of craftsmanship isn't cheap. I also agree that we might have to have some kind of intervention. Perhaps we could all chip in and get you a set of plans for a Vacationer

Went to the Olympia Wooden Boat show this afternoon. Lots of bigger boats, not many small sail boats. Not to many smaller wooden boats period. There was one bright spot though Capt Jake had his pride and joy there. If you get the chance to make the boat show tomorrow, it is worth the trip just to see Johns boat. Purrrrrrdy!! Got to visit with Capt. Jake and his wife for awhile, I guess I just missed Joel. All in all, a very worthwhile way to spend part of the afternoon 8)

Nice job on the boat. Trevor looks pretty serious. Did you have to arm wrestle him to take over the helm? Life must be good for you. Nice new boat, complete with a great looking crew. Happy launch day.

:oops: Wild Dingo is right. There should be lots of folks telling you congratulations on a job very well done. That is one nice little boat. I am just jealous, my boat isn't any where near complete. How about 1/8 in door skins? They are about $18.00 around here. 3ft x 7ft. Oak, Birch, Mahogany, all the same price. Not much left over for scrap.

Oyster, you cracked me up. I am not sure a Capt. Jake finish would be appropriate for a little ones cradle. Due to the perfection of the finish, and the high gloss shine, Mom would have to put sunglasses on the baby just to turn on the light :roll:

Mike Stevenson has always either answered the phone, or called me back. So I would try calling him to find out about your plans He is a busy guy, but he will try to get back to you. They say "patience is a virtue" :roll:

Two very nice examples of intarsia. I have done intarsia for several years. It is both fun and habit forming. Weather it's your own original pattern or one you have purchased, no two pieces will come out the same. Thats part of the fun. You begin with wood scraps and end up with an original work of art. A lady named Judy Gail Roberts has created hundreds of patterns. Look her up on the web. She has done some amazing things with western red cedar.
