While I know that this is primarily a site for wooden boats, I have been offered an early 60's fiberglass runabout with a25hp motor, a small gas trolling motor and a servicable trailer for -$20 (as in the guys wife has offered me $20 to get rid of it).

The old motor has some starting issues (not sure of it's lineage) and there is some rotten ply in the boat but the FG seems solid and the trailer is much newer the the boat.

My question is this. Is there a forum/advice site for the repair and restoration of these old frozen snot boats?

I would go to the bateau site. They have a project going right now that is to illustrate just this sort of rebuild. IE the replacement of stringers and transom.

Go to the "Fiber Glassics" site at http://www.fiberglassics.com/ and see if you find it there. Often, there are special interest forums on the Internet you can find for the specific boat that can help in locating or making fittings, etc. that you might need in the restoration.

But otherwise, you can also ask about the boat here. messing-about.com isn't limited to just sailboats, or wood boats.

No particular heresy. I'm getting ready to start on restoring a 60's vintage 17 foot aluminum boat as a small camp cruiser.

On the motor side, the best site for that is either the long running series on Duckworks or the Antique Outboard Collector's website.
