I had my heart set on Lake Cumberland sail, but after Brents insight to the dam problem I have had second thoughts. Thanks Brent I would have gone down there not knowing about the problem. Checked out the Corps web site on Cumberland's problem and its not going to be fixed easily or very soon. All tho the ramp issue's should be mostly resolved before summer.

I have 10 days off starting May the 1st. I am proposing a messabout sail on Kentucky Lake the weekend of May the 5th.

I think I will go down for most of the 10 days see if I can get sick of sailing and living on a 19 foot boat. ( like that could happen)

There is a nice marina on the north end of the lake. Lighthouse landing is a nice sailboat marina with electric, showers,laundry.

They also have camping but I haven't checked that out. The town of Grandrivers is within walking distance with some nice restaurants.

I will put in at Lighthouse landing and rent a slip part of the time and anchor out part of the time.

How bout it anyone interested?

Hey guys!

The first weekend in May is the small boat mess-about in Cedar Key Florida. Rooms start about $70 or so and the campground I stayed at this year was about $20 a nite.

There is absolutely no organization, but just a cloud of boats of all sizes.

Be advised you'll really need a good chart. When the tide goes out there's nothing but mud.....nice mud if you're into that sort of stuff.

Scott- be sure your motor is working. The harbor master at Lighthouse jumped all over Laura and I for sailing the sharpie in and out- told us there was NO SAILING ALLOWED inside the marina. :shock:

So we paddled in and out the rest of the time we were there.

Gordy I would love to do that but I already have two, thousand mile trips planned for this year. There comes a point where the wife will start to get real noisy!
