Rob Eades Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Been lurking around hear for some time and am now getting serious.I've been looking for a boat to build that can motor with my 3.5 hp sailboat outboard.I've decided on the Spindrift 11. I love a challenge.Is there any way I could do this in 40 days that I have till vacation? I can find the time,but is there enough time to "cure" before moving to the next stage of construction? Charlie Jones Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 I built my Mini Paw dink in 21 evening after I closed the shop for the day. But the painting took a bit longer. If you have the place to work AND have warm temps so epoxy and paint cures quickly, you should be able to do it. Maybe not totally completed and all pretty, but usable for sure. Remember- epoxy doesn't deteriorate instantly in sunshine- You COULD build it, epoxy coat it and use it. Then after the vacation, make it pretty, with paint, etc. Quote

The Sci Fi writer Robert Heinlien used that phrase in books written during the 40s and it may not have been original with him, although that's where I first saw it. Definitely a truism though. Quote
