Christening of MAGNOLIA

I would like to anounce the Chrisrening of Magnolia P/C 213 at the Nickajack messabout Sept 30 Oct. 1 Please post if you can be here I need a count so I will have enough stems for the champain I don't want anyone drinking bubbilie out of a dixie cup. Item 2 I will be serving the evening meal at the messabout. Menu friday sept 30 burgers and dogs. Sat.Oc 1 Pork probably boston butts and the fixings. We will be having happy hour before dinner for those of you that are nervice and need to loosen up a little. come join us if you can for a fun weekend. YALL COME Cap'N Bud :wink:

Craig: WE sure missed you at the messabout, but we all understand family comes first. Everyone seamed to have a good time and Ken did a great job with the pictures. The cristing went fine I put a Alabama quarter in Magnolia mast box for the money ( two dimes and a nickle glued togather) poured a drink of good whiskey on the bow and my wife being a tree huger wouldn't break the champaign so she opened it and poured it on. I'm not telling where I got yhe virgen pea but I put it on with an eye droper (it is very hard to come buy) Sure hope Y'all can come to the next one I will post when and where in advance so everyone will have plenty of time. I did not see a pic of the christening....any on the way? I am glad it went well. It sounds like you covered all the bases.

Only someone who builds boats can really appreciate the depth of emotion of a launching event. IMHO.

Beautiful pc, Cap'n Bud! Magnolia looks like a handy little boat. Do you know how it handles and moves compared to a Weekender? The cockpit looks a bit cramped for more than 2 adults. How about cabin space? I'm very curious about the off-center boards: how handy are they in shallow water? Do you typically leave only the leeward board down?

JeffM The P/C has about the same boat speed as the weekender,being it is a good bit wider it has more cockpit and cabin space. If you notice I made my hatches removable and extended the hatch so I can walk all the way up to the mast in the cabin. The boards don't go any deeper than a standard rudder in the water and can be raises some in shallow water if needed. I put both boards down when I get in the boat and try to remember to raise them before I put the boat on the trailor. The boards down make it hard to load. The P/C is a big little boat,and a real plesure to me. Y'ALL COME Cap'N Bud.
