The snow stopped, it was a warm +27F, 2 ft. of snow on the ground, over 15 hrs. of daylight.....Time to rig the boat. I didn't get any weird looks until I stepped the mast, then the snickering and pointing from passers-by began Hopefully I can finish the rigging tomorrow, supposed to be a balmy +45F.

Sorry I don't even want to tell you that it was almost 80 today. But thanks that is a great looking boat and I can not wait to be on the deck of my own (Okay it is for my dad) but I get to keep it until it is done and fully tested. Just remember that the water will get soft soon.

The rigging going up looks like spring to me.

We're going to have to get on the ball and do the same on our side of town. We hopped to have all three boats ready for the trip to Homer for the festival, but life's events decided otherwise. Laura's Skipjack is far from finished, but is still taking up the boat shed. So with time running out we'll shift to Swimmer's repaint, and getting the rigging back on The Flyer. I may even have to catch a cold and miss a few days at work.

I must admit I'm getting a lot done on the boat and the trailer.

PS There is a virus going around, it is only sinus related, no cough, but the throat's a bit sore and the glands under the jaw are a bit swollen. Lasts about a week.

Hi Bill,

It doesn't look like I'll be out of here in time to make it to the MN Messabout. The hiring process for my replacement has finally gained traction and I believe the company will make an offer to a candidate in the next day or so. But a move to Alaska is no small task and my most optimistic release date from up here is now mid-June. Then there is the 3300+ mi drive to Minneapolis. If I'm there before the 4th of July weekend, I'll be doing good.

Lots of progress this morning with rigging As You Wish for the Wooden Boat Festival in Homer. I finished up the running rigging and hanked on the jib and lashed the main to the boom and gaff. Still have a number of little items to take care of, but she sure looked ready to go by the time I had to leave for work. Too bad there's still plenty of ice on the lakes up here.

I don't think the optimism is misplaced. Looks good to me, but I would suspect that if you really want to scoot along the snowpack under sail, you will probably have to take her off the trailer...
