You sound like my Father last night. He lives south of Houston and said it was 30F. It was 27F at my home in Michigan at the same time. The difference is that we will still be that cold or colder for several more months and you will probably be up in the 50s within hours. That's if Mike shuts the door.

Yeah, I spent a week there one night during the winter months many a time, and Grand Rapids too. Would have to drive back to Detroit late on Friday nights. In the snow and ice, it was an interesting trip and very long on occasion. Still pretty country though most of the time. But I was sure happy to move back to Washington State for the weather as well as the sailing.

Gee, it's in the thirties here too ... only that's Centigrade so it's lovely and warm and the sun's shining and the birds are singing and I'm playing with my boat coz it's perfect boating weater and ... have I rubbed it in enough yet?

Yes, Yellowtail, that'll 'bout do it. :wink: My thermometer saw it's first positive number in about two weeks this morning. Downright balmy for up here. I'd be happy about the "warm" weather except for the 10lb. box of Alaskan King Crab I have out in the storage shed to take with to the Outside at Christmas. Don't want those to warm up.

30 c huh? I was 68f in the garage tonight so Tom and I put a layer of glass on the Top project. As the temp fell the poxy get a bit stiff. Like honey. Had to turn the heater back on. Yep, rubbed in quite enough... You notice Mike is quiet as a mouse. He did leave the door open![/i]

Heck, I even had the garage door open I had to make a shoe rack for the pesky Firstmate, too.

I put up a four foot Christmas tree, and she said it wasn't big enough. Take it down? :shock:

Okay, I put a seven foot Christmas tree up. She said it doesn't fit there. So I got to move the furniture again. :roll:

Then, last night, the two grandmas across the street put up one more string of lights than us. Now I get to find my ladder.

Which brings us back to K-Rad's iceboat. BAd news on the Top project. The other night we ran out od materials on the bench so I opened some fresh cans that were on the floor by the garage door. I used that material to mix up a batch to get the last 20% of the surface of the top. You guesses it! It will not cure. My suspicion is that while I got a good mechanical mix, the material was too cold for a chemical solution to form. I guess Saturday I'll scrape it off and do it again. Bummer. Everything else cured up just fine overnight.

Yes, we are. I was working down in Evansville, Ind yesterday, and we had a foot of snow there by noon, when I left. They were expecting another 12 to 18 inches last night. The 140 mile drive home took me 5 hrs, the last part in freezing rain and sleet coming into Louisville, which only had about 2 inches of actual snow on the ground. This morning woke up to about 6 or 7 inches of new white on the patio and drive. Streets here are iced with snow on top, 18 degrees, so salt doesn't work well. Expect to go below zero tonight, high tomorrow only supposed to be 12. Don't think this one got into Georgia - Indiana really took the hit. Just glad I left when I did, or I probably would have been spending Christmas in a motel. Anyhow, home safe and warm, with lots of coffee, cookies, and rum, if it really gets bad. (I know, what is someone in Bourban Land doing with rum - it makes better toddies ).

It is good to snuggle down at home when it gets nasty out.

I went grocery shopping on Monday for groceries, then spent half of my grocery budget on a dozen bottles of assorted wines. Some were from here, some from out Frank's way, and some from Australia. I should be ok for a week or so

Hot toddies made with rum and brown sugar will be good too 8) , but I do miss the margarita weather .

In any case, less I forget to do so, I hope all of you have a merry Christmas.

Weather permitting, we plan to have Christmas dinner at my eldest son's home this year.

For a time I lived in Columbus, Indiana and I know of which you speak. That ice under the snow thing is no fun at all. Especially when the towns don't have the equipment to get rid of it. We had 8 inches of snow one time, it shut the town down for two days. They plowed our street with a road grader because the plow (singular) was otherwise engaged.

Here in the Buffalo area 18 inches in a night, the roads are clear by 8:00am. Lake Erie is running about 5 degrees F above normal, the lake effect machine might get us yet!
