If you put things together using epoxy instead of glue, when you put the screws in, doesn't it squeeze the joint to tight and squeeze out too much epoxy? Or do you use epoxy in that fashion?

Doug,

I glued the whole boat together with epoxy, thickened with glue powder and fine sawdust. (from the sander collection bag)

I didn't have a problem (yet  ), and I think the mixture is thick enough that it doesn't run fully out of the joint.

The bit that does run out can be used to cover the screwholes as you go.

Just don't torque the screws untill all the glue is gone. You want a bit of squeeze out to know the joint is good but not enough to starve it of the epoxy. Is is kind of a expierence thing. You know how much you put in and you can see the amount pushed out. Just play it by ear and know there is a good film in there. Allow for the joint to absorb the epoxy also. If possible paint the mating surfaces with resin and allow to tack up before glueing the joint for final.

Simple question about epoxy?? LOL :lol: Epoxy fillers and fits of the wood, also play a big role in lamination and starvation of a joint.
