I have a lot of little details that I have yet to do. Mainly inside the cabin. (cushions) and sail covers, line bags, and turnbuckle covers and stuff like that. I really want to sali it a few times before the water gets too cold to swim to shore The sewing parts are a good wintertime project. I have all but the final coat of paint in the cabin. But with all the screws going through the roof, I am glad I waited. I know once I get it out here, there will be a huge "punch list" to fill Quote

adla Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 oh yeah...i am in jan...worked on the boat today...re-arranged my shop first (such a girl) and then have the wheel about 50% done...and the jib club foot....i am ready to rock and roll and finish the boat....(temps will be under 100 from here on out...i suspect.) i don't know where eagle lake is but i am all about going on vacation...i am excited for you and ROland....i feel like Oprah "whoOo hoOo"...hehehe a. Jan, best laid plans is to try and get the fiberglassing done before it gets too cold. Yup, if ya' get up here next summer, we can go and harass capt jake and some of the others up here and maybe have a impromptu get to gether. capt jake can't hide, I know where he lives. ...he took it real well when I forgot to raise his rudder and jammed it against the ramp... and even didn't yell when I bashed the bow on the dock a couple of times...of course, he never did invite me back to sail again :wink: His boat was too perfect. Someone had break it in for him :twisted: :roll: (you could not beleive the hull finish he has :!: I can with perfect confidence say that mine will not be so smooth, nor my creatation so perfect.) Speaking of capt jake, he stopped by the other day to see my boat...I think he was shocked :shock: at my workmanship :oops: He did the right thing...when you can't say something nice, shush, say nothing, and change the subject as soon as possible. rolandblais Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 Adla, before you cut your seats.... Check the length of your wheel shaft. If it is too short the wheel spokes will hit the seat. Mine extends about 2-3 inches from the lazarette and it is fine: I had to adjust the placement of the end of the shaft as well. It's close, but the spokes no longer hit the seats. I used a different setup for my wheel. A pipe flange, pipe, nipple, and cap: Peace, Roland Quote
Jan Williamson Posted September 12, 2004 Author Posted September 12, 2004 Adla don't cut the seats!!! You can relocate the hole for the steering wheel column. I raised mine up an inch and lowered the hole in the transom. Changed the angle. And like Roland said, my steering wheel extends 2-3 inches from the lazzerete. I'll get some pics today. Stump, hang in there. My boat was so ugly before I painted it, I couldn't hardly bear to post a pic. But mine is definately a "work boat" and I plan to use the heck out of it. It has already suffered dings and stuff from rigging it so I already broke it in Eagle lake is huge and has good wind. They have a sailing club... I'll do some more investigating. Quote
adla Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 i was thinking about extending the shaft...I have steep angle cut but can't recut because i epoxied a mahogany piece in there that will never come out...i don't mess around when i laminate wood together...
