Steve Day Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 Well, it has finally happened! I got the boat assembled today and set it up completely. Here are a couple of pictures of the boat on cradles in front of the hangar. Now, all I need now is water. I took it apart after the pictures and put the finish coat of paint on the outside of the aft hull. The shots show the Barrier Kote on the aft hull. You might be able to see the difference in color between the two hulls if you look closely. We are taking the boat to use her with "Day's Dream" in Alabama next weekend. Should be a lot of fun! Garry Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 CONGRATULATIONS, Steve!!! I'm jealous. My Spindrift has been stalled the last thre or four weeks. With this schedule, I just ran out of steam. Its not too far to go though. And we are about to finish this outage and go off the 12 hour night shift the end of this week. I'm so used to working nights and the summer is so far along, it will be weird for awhile. I'll be squinting big-time in the sunshine. I will be taking four weeks off soon and heading down to see Rosita. I don't think I will take the Spindrift yet since I still have the 8' tender at the boat. Maybe I'll use the Spindrift around here this summer and fall and take it down with me when the final outage is over this winter. Looks like you did a great job and she will be a good boat. You should be proud!!! Quote

We are leaving for Mobile Bay, Alabama Wednesday and the boat should be on the water Friday morning. We plan to use the little boat as a dinghy (imagine that :wink: ), but plan to sail it a lot while using the big boat. I suspect my son will spend most of the time on the little boat sailing circles around us on the big boat. I'll have a full report after we get back next Wednesday, complete with pictures. You're right Ray! I'm going to get mine in the water a lot quicker than Jake. I bet I'm traveling further to put it in the water, too! :? Ready to travel to the south, ya'll. Steve Quote

Laura and I are going to be leaving for a week or more in P'Cola on about June 8th. Hauling our Lindsey 21 over for a cruise- don't use up all the good weather Steve. We are planning to spend one night over that way on Memorial Day weekend. (Just west of the AL/FL border.) We particularly enjoy playing around over by Pensacola Inlet and Perdido Key in the bay behind the barrier island just west of the inlet and Fort McRee. Don't know if we'll have enough time to do that this trip. Have a great time. Too bad we'll miss each other. It would have been great to meet you. Steve Quote

That stands for "Backwoods Environmental Escape Rendezvous" Put on by another acronym group- GRITS. THAT stands for "Gulf Regional Interstate Trailersailors" We'll be headquartering at Pensacola Marine Shipyard Complex. Laura and I will most likely arrive on Thursday the 10th. This is the 4th year and this year we have 50+ boats signed up from all over the SouthEast. As far as us from the west and a buddy from Hollywood Florida from the southeast. Also people flying in from Illinois and we MAY have a boat coming on a trailer from Chicago. Steve Day Posted May 26, 2004 Author Posted May 26, 2004 We are planning to stop at Lulu's on the way through also. Now that she has moved, we can get the boat to her place. "Day's Dream" draws 5-1/2' of water and the bayou she was on was WAAAY too shallow for us. Your trip doesn't sound a whole lot different than throwing the new dink in the back of the pickup and driving 1200 miles to our Beneteau. We will get 4 days on her before we have to turn around and head back up here. Kinda silly, isn't it? I just need to find a job down there. I'd build boats, but I'm afraid I would starve. Steve Quote
