One racer in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah a racer is in!!!!! :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock:

What started out as a simple test ended up as a successful expedition.

Here's what happened:

The Christening Ceremony was fun . We had two speeches and sprayed a bottle of fake champagne all over the place. We launched Swimmer in the Chena River at a boat landing. There was lots of ice, but there was a skinny strip of water by the shore. I rowed and pushed Swimmer by the ice until I got to where there was more open water. Then I came to shore and picked up Dad so we could try out the equipment. He really made the boat tip! We were testing the under water viewer, but the water was too muddy. Then were testing the boom crane with the recovery basket and the suction pump when an artifact came floating by. We had to pull up the anchor and row for it before it got swept into the river current. I finally caught it with my hands. It was a big salmon lure trapped in a floating branch. The hooks were rusty so it was probably from last year.

The boom crane gave us some problems, and one of my oar locks popped loose (the Gorilla Glue wasn’t strong enough.) The hose to the underwater suction device kept floating. But everything can be fixed so it was a good first expedition.

I'm really impressed! Sounds like a wonderful and exciting christening ceremony. I know you are going to have wonderful adventures with your Recovery Vessel.

To give credit where credit is due, Alexander is the graphic artist who designed and painted Swimmer. Less visionary folks (his Mom and Dad) attempted to persuade him to more subtle and traditional colors, but Alexander held fast and insisted on his vision. Now even we see he was right.

That boat turns heads every where we go :!:

YEP! Captain Alexander is quite the guy. I was impressed with his attitude the first time I met him and he sailed on my Vacationer. I am going to have to get busy with my boat and do some fine tuning. He might show me up at the lake if I'm not careful.

That is one pretty boat, I am very sorry I missed that launch.

Alexander, that's a really a cool boat, and you even launched it in ice filled waters. The paint scheme is really nice, too. Looks as if you had a lot of help in launching the boat. Even your sister lent a hand!
