The one side has been rounded and the other filled with a bit of putty...looks like more than it is..i spread pretty thin but wide. The unfinished side has been knocked down with the sure form shaper and will get sanded tonight...HOPE the glaSS shOWs up soOOn!...i really want to get it painted and turn it back over. Speaking of which...i can see from the construction of these why one wouldn't want to gel coat them...the whole process has been completely new and was totally alien a month or so ago...i will be using a semi-gloss satin when i get to the the painting ...because i don't really like super shiny paint...and i will be sailing with kids (nephews and nieces) and a really big dog...RealLy big dOg...that should be hell on the boat but a lot of fun. and i got the plans for my navigator today...i just walk around giddy with boat building...people think i have cracked...glAD you PEOPLE understand. a. I'm humbled, since I started on my 10' Spindrift in September and you're now blowing past me like I'm standing still. :oops: And that is with you doing a much larger project. My hat is off to you. adla Posted April 14, 2004 Author Posted April 14, 2004 thanks Steve...i dedicate the time to the boat for therapeutic reasons...i am a hardworking and successful business person in Las Vegas that was about 2 phone calls short of a complete nervous breakdown (just about last september)....i still work smart but don't let the work run my life. boat building makes me just gidDy...i walk around smiling and people just come up and ask WHY....i turn the phone off in the afternoon and work on the boat...then get back to work late at night. I've even had clients say..."what's that in your hair?" my reply: "oh it is just fiberglass resin...i leaned into the boat i am building..." and not a single client has run screaming yet! so...i'm off to the yard to sand the other side and finish up a few little places here or there that need a little putty...my glass should be here by thursday....and then i'll be having a little fiberglass party of my own! a. I think I have done OK, but every once in a while, I think I should have devoted more time to life and less to work. I'm very happy to see that you realized your path to the "dark side" and changed course to a better balanced lifestyle. We all need an outlet other than work. adla Posted April 15, 2004 Author Posted April 15, 2004 i will tell you all this much...IT CAME TODAY...the glass is here.. ahhhhh yesss...i am not quite ready for it (work shmirK) but it is here and the kevlar for the chine...i will put in a "unpaid" commercial announcement of my own...i went with the people Barry always recommends because they had good prices...you have to call them to get the order in but the glass is in great shape..wrapped up nice and taped at the ends to prevent fray...the local -place cut it and pulled it *cringe*...it is more delicate than that...which is why i didn't go back there for more cloth...who needs all the waste and fringy mess. :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: a.
