Mike it is good to hear you are doing better Now it is my time to get cut on again, the doctor told me my left knee replacement has wore out after only 8 years. I will be going in after I put 2 more coats of epoxy on the cabin sides. He wanted me to go in two days ago, something about he had to do it before the prosthesis worked loose.

I don't envy you Mike, I've had my knee replacement for 10 years now and the doctor told me at the time that it may only last 15 years. We'll see. So far so good. :?

I didn't post this past couple of months because of the antibiotics, morphine and Demerol left me a vegetable. I went awol one night from med/surg, they found me doing the morning hematology run in my new lab. Complete with IV pole, my drainage bag, and the skirt thingy with the window in back. What?

I don't recommend the re-plumping job if you don't need one. But mine went well and I get a kick out of the privilege of being able to flush

Sorry, about that dang knee Ed, did you get one of the bad ones with the unsterile caustic lubricants? Those resulted in the body not bonding to the prostheses. They say the new stuff is better, but I wouldn

Mike what I got was a new type of plastic insert in the standard metal prostheses. I was the first one East of the Mississippi River to get one. Now I am wishing that I was not the test patient. What is strange is 6 months ago it did not show any wear and now it is over half gone. I am thinking about asking my doctor to send the bill to the manufacturer.

I was wondering what happened to you because I had not seen any post from you and now we know. I bet you were hard to live with for a while.

I just picked up John Grisham's "The King of Torts" - this sounds like a huuuuuge class action suit in the making. From what I understand, don't accept the first offer - there's more money in the coffer than you could imagine. Of course, that's assuming JG is really a lawyer and not a moonlighting Stephen King.

My father-in-law is putting off a dual knee replacement - he was told that they last about ten years so he's trying to pick the day exactly 10 years before he passes away. :shock:

But seriously, do you have any recourse? I can't believe you should pay for anything due to unnatural wear of a protheses - particularly if you were a "beta" patient so's to speak. I'm not a big fan of suing everybody who does something you don't like but this sounds very legit -I mean at the very least there's stray plastic floating around in your hip socket. Maybe some legal advice might be prudent?
