Guest Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 I woke up in the middle of the night, last night, and thought about how silly Jake looked to his new neighbors sailing a boat inside the new shop. If they only knew he was looking to install balast to stay upright, when just the idea of needing balast to stay upright, in no water is really pretty darn silly to people that actually knew what was going on inside there. capt jake Posted January 31, 2004 Author Posted January 31, 2004 Well, I am nearing the end, I think. Re-worked teh Dead-eyes with a synthetic 3 strand rope (lookes like weathered Manilla). Dolphin striker is in place and actually provides good tension. All of the sheets and halyards are in place. Outhaul for the loose footed main works great. Debating the nead for a downhaul for the jib. Vinyl base moulding fro the rudder box attached last night. Repaired the 3 rubrails which failed at the scarfs. I used CA glue for the repair; this is great stuff (matter of fact, after I wrote that, I think that is the brand name)!! I have been using it for many things over the past 5 years and really find it handy. Not the average glue, I get it from either Rockler of Woodcraft. Researching bits and pieces for the electrical circuits and trying to locate a decent electric trolling motor. The one at WalMart was actually $245. Also debating batteries; gel-cells are about $125 each vs a standard group 27 lead-acid at about $60. Needing a little varnish touch up yet. Might have it back in the Olympia Wooden Boat Fair again, need to see if I can get the time off. Quote
