Thanks for updating the link Frank, I intended on doing that myself but forgot.

I really enjoy the electric, it is quiet, and with two deep cycle batteries provides adequate speed and duration. Also the batteries mounted in the bow provide extra weight for ballast.

I've thought about this for my Weekender, because I hate 2-stroke outboards (noisy and dirty). What size wire did you have to run from the bow to the stern to carry the current? The charts always have these very large wires, #4 or #3, in them, and it looks to me like that would be overkill. But I understand you need wire large enough to carry the current to the motor.

Number six or even eight should be OK, six being better than eight. I have a 24 volt electric for my vac. and I have some # 8 handy but will use # 6. The batteries will be in the forepeak for better weight distr.

Frank I used #6 because of the distance from the forepeak to the motor way back there in the well, you could most likely get away with #8 but the wire may get a little warm.
