PHBenson Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 Does anyone have any plans/advice for putting a motor well in the aft deck of a core sound 17? Quote
Paul356 Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 Alan of B&B ran a series of posts on this site a couple years ago showing a motor well he added to his boat. Quote

Don Silsbe Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 @PHBenson— I believe it is not here on the forum, but in a YouTube video series he’s doing on the construction of his Core Sound 20 mark 3. It is in Update #8, starting at the 4:50 time stamp. Here’s the link: Quote
Steve W Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 If you are just wanting to add a place to clamp a motor, I shared my process for I used to design this on my "Skeena" thread. Graham did something similar on Carlita. The main reason I did this was so I wouldn't need to ever remove my motor for traveling. I have a lock on it and just leave it. I never felt comfortable with any extended mounts, but this thing is rock solid. I will mention that I thought I had it perfectly figured out until the launch and when I went forward the short shaft motor pulled out of the water. I now have a long shaft and it works perfectly. I tried searching and couldn't find it. I imagine Alan will weigh in at some point. It wasn't the youtube shown above, which is a well in the interior of the 20. The one I'm thinking of involved putting a sort of box in the transom of the 17. It took Alan about 3 hours. Would take me about 3 weeks. Quote
Paul356 Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Here's one solution, involving a motor mount that had been available from Duckworks. I'm not sure it is available any more. I use that motor mount, with some modifications, and just pull the motor up as hard as I can and it locks. Quote
Paul356 Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Finally found the link to Alan's mod that I was thinking of (I did a number of searches on the forum. This came up on the second page of results for "outboard well 17") 1 Quote
Mark Rendelman hull 24 Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I installed a motor well on my cs20mk3 I followed Alan’s plans and it worked out well you must construct the well to fit the motor you have so you can bring it up into the well so every install will be a little different I have a short shaft tohatsu 1 Quote
