I just received the photo cd of the Bay River Skiff and it appears the boat is built by attaching the sides to the stern, inserting the forward bulkhead and then the keel batten, then the boat is flipped and the bottom panels are put on one at a time. Can anyone confirm if this is the method of construction?

I have been considering ordering a CS 17 kit, but am now considering the plans for the BRS 15. Anyone have information on the costs of a completed boat and time to build?

Anyone out there near Georgetown, S.C. with a Bay River Skiff 15? I would like to see one, or better yet, go for a sail in one.

I have been wanting to try using one of those paint mixers - the auger type you use with an electric drill gun/screwdriver. I was thinking the process would go like this: 1. pour resin and hardner into container; 2. insert auger and pull the trigger until it's mixed well; 3. finish mixing by scraping sides and bottom of container with tongue depressor (if auger is not effecient at getting to the sides and bottom of container) 4. Add thickner, if desired, and mix some more. 5. Put dirty auger in bucket of white vinegar to soak; 6. Wipe any left over goo off of auger and rinse it in a bucket of water; 7. repeat from step one Anyone see any problems with this procedure? Is the rinsing with water necessary after using vinegar?

I have some experience with MAS epoxy. I understand that Graham sells epoxy that uses a 2:1 ratio - the same as MAS. I've only used the Fast hardener with MAS. Anyone have any information regarding how these two products compare to one another?

A neighbor of mine built the CS 17 about a year ago. I've been looking over his plans and at his boat. The interior framing, centerboard, and masts steps appear to be most of the work. The plans are bit difficult for me to look at - a whole lot of info on small pages - maybe that's one of the reasons it looks daunting. Has anyone finished a kit boat completely? I think I saw somewhere that the some of the stringer locations are marked on the pre-cut plywood panels. How much is left to measure, mark, measure, cut? I'm just trying to get an idea of how much work and time I'll have to put into a kit. Any help is appreciated. What a cool boat!

I am new to the forum and considering building a CS 17. I just finished a Sam Devlin rowing skiff. I was considering ordering the CS 17 kit to save some time. My question is, what materials needed to finish the boat are not included in the kit? From what I can tell on the B&B webpage, epoxy and sails are not included. I'm assuming this means fiberglass either and obviously no trailer. Is there any additional wood to purchase after purchasing the kit? If the answer to the preceeding question is "no," then if one buys the kit, then is all that is left to do is put the pieces together with epoxy and fiberglass, then fair, paint, etc? I know from building my skiff that that is still a lot of work. Any help would be appreciated.
