"MO" is "Moron" abbreviated. Or is it "Massively Obvious"..>? Like I said: I'm a dope.

Well, I ran Windows Defender and it did come up with one item, although I don't know what it was. I had to go to work and let it complete the scan. The whiff took care of it while I was gone. It hasn't occured since yesterday, so it must have gotten it. Thanks for the input. The Geek Squad are the worst kind of hippies: The kind that actually know something useful. They're also the most rare. ;D

My almost-six-yr-old now gets on this laptop while I'm away at work. (He can't read/write very well, but he can mimic our password and likes to play Super Mario Bros and other stuff. The problem is that (like I said) he can't read. And he's only 5. He's somehow managed to get something into this computer that is very annoying. Here's a basic description of what happens: I open an internet window (IE), and while the page is loading, a second partial window opens on top of the first window. And here's the devious part of it.. Whatever page I'm trying to view, it completely mimics/copies it. The best way to describe it is that it almost appears that the second unwanted window is completely transparent and you can see through it to your original window. I can tell by the url that it's some marketing/redirect/evil/satanic url. The prob is, I have no idea how to delete this program or whatever it is that he unwittingly downloaded. Lectures about children online aside, can anyone suggest what to do? I'm tired of hitting Alt+F4. :-\ Konrad

For some reason, I took the "MI" to mean Missouri, not Michigan. (Because logic dictates that Missouri should be "MO", right? Um, no..) I'm a dope..

Greg... You're in St. Jo, MO...? Has that always been in your avatar? I'm just 2 hours north of you in Lincoln. (Total thread drift, but since I started the thread, I think I'm entitled..) Konrad

I'm pretty sure that D-Day was an international event. Benefitting other countries far more than the U.S. At any rate, don't let my little rant cause a rift here in this online community. To me, it was a poor choice to recognize Tetris when they had a great opportunity that day to say Thank You.

On Frank's first posting in this thread (reply No. 2), his second photo.... Wouldn't it be better to have that eye rotated 90 deg, so that the load from the line is in-line with the long axis of the eye?

Those hippies at Google.... They can honor Martin Luther King Jr. day, Earth Day, Louis Braille, etc., but... Today is June 6. D-Day. And they honor: Tetris, the video game. A hundred bucks says there isn't a single one of them that served. (I am so glad I am not from the 60's.) If at no other time, at least remember them today. Yes, I'm a little miffed and ranting right now.

Nice. But I'm 6'-3", 200 lbs (95 kg). Would I fit in it? ???

PAR's got the right idea in that first photo of his: Just rotate your whole shop... ;D

For the love of God, Ken.. Turn on the TV. Because you're starting to think for yourself..!!

I lost a bet at work this week and had to eat half a can of Spam. Even on the grill, smothered in some Tastefully Simple marinade, it was the worst experience of my life..!! "The horror... the horror.."

This is hilarious. I never thought I'd see the day when phrases like "Biblically Terrible", and engine noise being compared to "sitting a dog on a ham slicer" applied to a Honda?? http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/driving/jeremy_clarkson/article6294116.ece

One of the BEST things you can take on your first outing is someone else with experience. If you don't have that, just close your eyes and hope for the best. Just kidding. The boat is a charm, go out and back it in. In another month, you'll be amused when you look back at your own hesitation about it. At least that's how it was for me. One thing to caution you about, though.. Sometimes the real trouble begins when you've had it out several times, and your confidence level is higher. That's when a person is more apt o overlook something and get themselves in a pinch.

I think your time invested in that keel roller will pay for itself over the years. Before I ever built my Vacay 10 yrs ago, there was another guy here that had a Weekender on a trailer similar to your original set up. And you could definitely see that the undersides of the hull were deflecting from carrying all of the weight. And it was more than just a little deflection.
-
Toad, All previous posts are good advice. The real answer to your question, though, rests with your use of the boat, and how much weight you personally place on cost vs. material grade. Some achieve a great deal of satisfaction out of the quality of materials that they select. Others lean towards the cost-per-fun ratio. For whatever it's worth to you, I built my Vacationer 9 years ago out of acx, and structurally it's fine. The topsides did need some cosmetic face lifting last year, but that was a matter of simple age, unrelated to the material itself. Mine is stored inside in the winter and tarped on a trailer in the summer.

So you're saying Luckett shops at our local mall? (I'm nominating this thread as the most off-topic drift so far for the season. Who'll second it?)

I live in NEBRASKA. What the hell is this "Navy" that you speak of...?
-
I'm out of touch. What's Tehani? (I know it's your boat. I mean what kind?)
-
Did they wear the "convict" stocking cap?

You see Greg's avatar up there...? That's actually a photo of one of his old girlfriends. Be careful what you wish for.

Oh, NO..!! Ray, look at THIS ONE... ( ;D ) ALERT: The Center for Disease Control has issued a medical alert about a highly contagious, potentially dangerous virus that is transmitted orally, by hand, and even electronically. This virus is called Weekly Overload Recreational Killer (WORK). If you receive WORK from your boss, any of your colleagues or anyone else via any means whatsoever DO NOT TOUCH IT!!! This virus will wipe out your private life entirely. If you should come into contact with WORK you should immediately leave the premises. Take two good friends to the nearest liquor store and purchase one or both of the antidotes - Work Isolating Neutralizer Extract (WINE) and Bothersome Employer Elimination Rebooter (BEER). Take the antidote repeatedly until WORK has been completely eliminated from your system. You should immediately forward this medical alert to five friends. If you do not have five friends, you have already been infected and WORK is controlling your life. Have a great day!

Not meaning to capitalize on another's misfortune, but this is a good reminder to me personally to back up my stuff. Sorry to hear about your major headache. They had to install a new o.s. on my computer this week, and it's amazing how many little streamlined shortcuts and stuff you lose.
