  1. Hi Mike, how is your project doing ? I painted the sole with 50% gloss clear lacure ( semi mat ) using a cotton roller . It worked fine on my previous boat. Still waiting for the new outboard to arrive because our local agent only stocks 1 outboard from each model and use it as showroom display . I made it clear that I wanted the unit un opened and sealed as it arrives from Japan , so I have to wait for about 6 weeks !!
  2. Thanks Miyot. In fact the compass is not yet fitted. I just put it in the place where I would like it to be. How can I know if the radio will effect its magnetic field ? In that place it is marking exactly compared with an other compass ( away from it )
  3. Deck and centre console painted and ready for some instruments
  4. Yes infact Graham sugested that she can handle up to 60hp in his plans
  5. Hi all, I have almost completed my Marissa build and I'm thinking to buy an outboard . I am thinking of a Suzuki DF60A because it is the lightest in its category (230 lbs , 104 kg ), 3 cylinder , fuel injection and very compact. Dose any one have this setup on his boat ? What speeds can she do ? What propeller pitch is the best ? What mpg ? I am very curious how Marissa will perform with this engine ! Any help, comments and experiences are really appreciated Regards, Lotus
  6. Thanks Mike. Paint is apoxy based clear coat with pigment added to have the colour scheme I wanted .Finally I sprayed 2 coats of semi gloss clear coat to have that matt look ( and hiding some imperfections too !) Uninformatively in this small island we do not find all the materials needed so we have to improvise . Besides that this kind of boat building is not common in Malta so there is no demand for such products ! All boats here are build from GRP ( fibreglass) in a mould. It was very lucky to find epoxy resin because we have only couple of suppliers here ! I tried this system on the first boat I build about 5 years ago and it is still very good looking.
  7. Finally all that sending is over !! Time for some colours !!
  8. Hi Mike , have just sent you some photos. Don't know if they have reached you ,please confirm and if so you can edit your previous mail , just for your security .
  9. Hi Mike. I designed the trailer but have no documents . If you like I can send you some photos of it and also its dimensions to your email address.
  10. Looks like it's sanded to perfection !! Very nice
  11. Thanks Mike. Yes I built the trailer before flipping the boat for glassing. If you're gona build yours its better to build it before applying the finish coat as it might be damaged during welding process
  12. Great nice job Mike !. I will topcoat when all the wood work is ready, but for sure its better to talk with the paint manufacturer as clt_capt suggested !
  13. Ha ha , good one T.J. but still a long way for that day ! These couple of weeks I was too busy on my work, not alot of spare time for marissa !. But we had flipped it again up side down and glassed it. Next step is a lot of sanding and sanding !! will upload some photos soon
  14. Nice boat Mike . The fairing looks fine . I'm in the process of flipping the boat and start the fairing. The last couple of weeks was working on a boat trailer for marissa. Thanks 1blueheron for the info about the t-top. Please have a look to my tread named Marissa went to Europe. Well done Mike and keep us informed with more photos!
  15. Rear folding seats ready. Think that all the wood work is ready!! Was trying to design some kind of tee top out of aluminium pipes . Any suggestions ??
  16. Hi Paul and thanks for your nice comments. Looks like you know our small island very well ! Hope that my photos will switch you to start building yours !!. I think that with Graham's detailed plans and some extra photo help its more easier DONE THAN SAID. Centre seat is ready and installed . Will start thinking about a folding seats at the transom .
  17. Thanks Mike. Today I found some struts that will automatically open the door up as soon as it will be unlocked, so there is no worry that the door will smash some one inside the console !! No this is not my first build but besides that my main job is a carpenter so woodworking is very straightforward for me. Finally its not the speed that matters but the quality in the work ! Ive seen your last photos and its looking great. Are you thinking of some modifications ?! I will do that in every project that I do, would like that little personalisation that makes it different from the rest Tomorrow will began the centre seat
  18. Console ready !! Will attach a curtain around the edge of the opend door and you have a private toilet I'll try to find some stainless steal stays to lock the door open and also make a partition (back) between the potty and the fuel tank .
  19. Dose anyone tried a tee top on a Marissa ??. These type of tents are not common in Malta, in fact I have never noticed a boat with it in my country . I really like its style and I like the fact that there will be no obstructions on the deck . What are the advantages and disadvantages ?
  20. Upps !! sorry mike, I wanted to post that in my tread . Apologise
