PAR Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Any weight 'glass cloth will do. 2 through 12 ounces are common, with 6 and 8 being the most common. For abrasion protection Xynole would be the best choice with Dynel being a second choice. Both out perform 'glass cloth by significant amounts. I used 8 ounce on my CS-17, but also flood coated the weave with slightly thickened goo afterward. This left a resin rich surface to fill and fair, which is more resilient to abrasion than having cloth, a fraction of an inch below the fairing compound and paint. The inside of the case sides should have a similar treatment, though I elected to use Teflon sheets instead over a typical 6 ounce sheathing. Nice and slippery and no binding. Quote
Paul356 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 PAR is first class all the way, with amazing results. For the rest of us, 6 oz. cloth with regular epoxy is a good approach. That's what I used, anyway. Flood coating with slightly thickened epoxy, like PAR mentions, is a good approach. Quote
