I am also curious how you structurally added the lenght. Besides that steering mod, wow! I didn't look to see if you added to the length of the boom and main sail, or do you feel the need? Mike Can't wait to get home and print a copy of the pics for my wall of Fame.[/quote'] Mike, Thanks for the kind words. the curve at the cockpit front are made from ply, I cut vertical kerfs in the back side of the ply half way through spaced one inch apart to allow the 1/4" ply to form the bend. I added 8" to the boom to allow for clearance for the main sheet riging aft of the boom gallows. As to the extra length I did the extention last july here is a pdf drawing I did when first planning the extention. Plus a bad photo taken early in the cockpit mod just completed. I have been partially contemplating doing similar mostly by widening the beam a bit esp, in the rear quarters. The cockpit deck would be redacted to the hull sides with new cockpit decks extending out to new hull sides giving a more spacious cockpit with more leg room, and a wider stern for more comfort and stability and the new double hull would provide loads of floatation chamber. My concern though would be dramatic speed penatly from significant increase in wetted surfaces.[/quote'] Actually Ray I did the mod in two parts, last July through Early September I extended the hull by four feet at the deck and encluded a well for trolling motor. At that time I left the Side decks and seating as origanally built and converted from tiller to a wheel with rope and pulley steering. I was un happy with the seating and cockpit arrangement so a month and a half ago I ripped the cockpit out to the hull sides, redesigned the seating, lowered the rear deck to seat level. Just removing the wasted space of the side deck from the aft end of the cabin back greatly increased the beam inside the cockpit. I replaced the rope and pulley steering with a rotary helm and cable. I also added the boom gallows. As far as effecting hull speed, I swear she feel like she is sailing faster than ever. May be it has something to do with length to width ratio or something. Quote

Andrew You may be right Andrew' date=' It works fine if I read it from disk, but not from the web. The problem may also be caused by the way I created them, I draw in Corel Draw 10 and then use corel's built in publish to .pdf feature. I'm not sure what is the real problem. Doesn't seem _super_ strong to me, but I guess you haven't compromised the integrity of the original hull so what's the worst that can happen ...[/quote']Simon, besides the gussets the drawing also shows 1X6's extendind from the keel to the new transom inside the hull. the provide enough strength that I can stand on the transom(I weight 200#)while on the trailer with out any flex. The drawing was only a sketch I used during the planning stages of the first part of the mod, also when I did the latest mod (the cockpit) I strengthened the hull at the deck by using 2" X 1 1/2" stringers bent to fit the hull curve extending from the aft cabin Bulkhead to the stern. I am working on a drawing that will show the whole group of mods as they are now. Quote
